Academic History

Temple University

Coming from a diverse background, I had trouble figuring out which of my interests to pursue in college. Towards the last year of high school, I believed I would go into neuroscience due to the time I spent at New York University’s Aoki Lab researching the effects of animal based anorexia on rats. However, I began school thinking I would go into marketing and later changed my major around a few times until I was completely sure that the major I chose was the one I could dedicate all my learning to. This major was MIS — after taking the introductory course of MIS, I was certain that I could see a future working with a mix of business strategy and technology. One of the challenges I am currently facing is trying to experience all the possibilities with my major, including IT Audit and consulting, to see which field I believe fits my interests best.

I also greatly value the time I spend at the Business Honors Student Association, an SPO at Fox of which I was the Vice President Internal of for the calendar year of 2016. Getting involved with BHSA since freshman year was a great decision because I felt like the diverse mix of majors made BHSA very well-rounded, and it provided a sense of community that I otherwise might not have been able to find.

As for progress towards my major, I have completed all classes except for the elective MIS 3581 and capstone class MIS 4596, both of which I will be taking in the fall of 2017.

John Jay High School

I attended high school at John Jay in Cross River, New York. I took part in a three year program called science research where students were expected to spend one year researching different growing areas in science and figuring out where their interests lied, then spending their junior years working at a lab under the watch of a mentor. This is where I was able to conduct my study at the Aoki Lab, and you can find the abstract for the work I did here. I also spent senior year of high school going to regional competitions, one of the largest being the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair where over 400 students competed to present their work in a professional and educational manner. This prepared me for giving presentations, as I spent much of my time senior year practicing for these competitions, and I was able to place 4th in animal sciences for my work. I was also a part of various other activities in high school, including making the varsity tennis team for two years and volunteering at the local Wolf Conservation Center.
