  • Build a cloud application deployment infrastructure using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Analyze and configure a cloud infrastructure for scaling and redundancy.
  • Develop a simple RESTful API using Node.js.
  • Deploy an API to a cloud infrastructure using instance-based and application-based methods.

Projects:

  • Amazon Web Services Project (Pennsylvania Turnpike Toll Calculator)
    • Configured the networking, security groups, launch configurations, auto-scaling groups, and service for a Pennsylvania Turnpike Toll Calculator Prototype through Amazon Web Services.
    • Developed the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code for the application, in addition to a simple RESTful API using Node.js.

MIS 2402: Web Application Development w/ Instructor Konstantin Bauman

Course Description:

  • Understand and apply the basic principles common to all programming languages (e.g., variables, algebraic expressions, logical expressions, if/else statements, loops, functions, arrays, and objects) using JavaScript.
  • Learn the basic structure and syntax of HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Use tools (i.e. libraries/frameworks) that can speed and simplify application development, e.g. Bootstrap, and jQuery.
  • Gain an understanding of a Serialization process via JSON.
  • Demonstrate the ability to get data from multiple third-party APIs and use it a the Web Application.
  • Practice developing applications using a Single Page Architecture.

Projects:

  • API Project (Name of Application: Sign Language)
    • Developed a single-page architecture web application using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Visual Studio Code used to translate horoscopes into 22 different languages.
    • Implemented two REST APIs with the use of AJAX and jQuery.
    • Made use of If statements, buttons, forms, and API-calling best practices.

     

MIS 2502: Data and Analytics w/ Instructor Hyeonsik Shin

Course Objectives:

  • Articulate the key components of an organizations’ information infrastructure.
  • Understand and use transactional database from a model based on both SQL and NoSQL, using MySQL Workbench & MongoDB Compass, respectively.
  • Created analytical data stores by extracting relevant data from a transactional database.
  • Performed extract, transform, load (ETL) functions such as data sourcing, pre-processing, and cleansing.
  • Discovered trends in analytical data stores using the data mining techniques of clustering, segmentation, association, and decision trees.
  • Learned how to present data visually for clear communication to a managerial audience.

Projects:

  • Sentiment Analysis Write-Up 
    • Explored the topic of Sentiment Analysis and its various applications in Data Analytics and the corporate environment as a whole.

MIS 2101: Digital Systems w/ Instructor AJ Raven

Status: Completed Spring 2021

Through this introduction to Management Information Systems, I learned about the expanding role of information systems in business and different applications used to streamline business processes. The course discusses topics such as Customer Relationship Management, Enterprise Resource Planning, Cybersecurity, and the Basics of Coding.

Skills acquired include:

  • Basic understanding of SalesForce functions
  • Enterprise Resource Planning with Swim-lane Diagrams and Entity Relationship Diagrams
  • Basic Understanding of front-end development languages such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS

MIS 0855: Data Science w/ Instructor Sezgin Ayabakan

The course teaches students how the study of Data Science provides value regardless of industry. Through honing in on concepts such as locating data for different fields of study, identifying problems with data sets to facilitate analysis, conveying insights through visualizations, and using text/association mining techniques, students improve problem-solving skills that empower business communication.

Skills acquired include:

  • Cleaning and prepping data sets through Microsoft Excel
  • Turning data into visualizations for analysis via Tableau
  • Presenting information and data with infographics (Piktochart)
