IT Security Intern
- During my internship as an IT Security Intern, I supported both the Vulnerability Management (VM) and the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Teams. I helped the VM Team by analyzing and assessing the risk of specific vulnerabilities and completing a DREAD Assessment to explain my findings. For the PCI team, I helped chase down assets in the company that were potentially in scope for PCI to stay compliant with the PCI Security Standards Council. I also helped to kickoff the PCI UK 2020 Assessment by setting up meetings, taking meeting minute notes, and discussing everything with my team.
- Outside of the two teams mentioned above, I was also part of the IT Interns Group Project that focused on creating a Machine Learning based Pricing Model to help the Pricing Team set more accurate prices on items based on their top competitors’ prices. With a lot of collaboration and hard work between us IT Interns, we were successfully able to introduce Machine Learning and Microsoft Azure’s ML features into the company with a prototype that the Pricing Team will be able to use and expand upon in the near future.
- This past summer I was exposed to many things that I have not even heard of before, let along worked with/on. I learned a lot about cybersecurity which I am excited to apply to in the future, like in the MIS Capstone this semester. Additionally, although the internship was completely online, I was still able to build on both my hard and soft skills when speaking with colleagues.
