Spring 2018

Digital Design and Innovation Studios (MIS Course):
In this course, I learned about the how a business analyst takes on problems. I was introduced to case studies that were mapped out with swimlane diagrams as well as entity relationship diagrams. This class is relevant to my career because it taught me how to manage multiple projects which I had to do managing the client project we were tasked with. I also learned how to illicit information from people, and how to build trust among business professionals.
Enterprise IT Architecture (MIS Course): 
In this course, I learned about the importance of technology from a business perspective. I also learned about different business technologies and how MIS professionals can help add value to businesses. I also learned to do efficient research on technologies and how to construct proposals regarding them. This class is relevant to my career because it taught me that I need to quickly adapt to new technologies. It also helped improve my ability to view challenges and seek to solve or improve them using technological solutions.

Data-Centric Application Development (MIS Course): In this course, I learned how to do web development with HTML, CSS, and PHP. I worked on a variety of projects that helped hone my coding skills and quickly learned some key components of the aforementioned three languages in a semester. This course is what got me really interested in wanting to web design, which is something that I have become passionate about. In this class, I learned about the importance of writing concise code that works efficiently and gets the job done. 

Data Analytics (MIS Course): In this course, I learned about the importance of analyzing data and how to create data visualizations using R Studios and Excel. Throughout this course, I learned how to gather useful information from data in a variety of ways, all of which helped me understand the different issues that come along with trying to break down data. This course relates to my career because it helped me develop my problem-solving skills as well as my analytical skills. By being able to look at large arrays of data and being able to make the data useful.

Information Systems in Organizations (MIS Course):
This course was an introductory course into MIS. It is required of all Fox students to take this course. In this course, I was introduced to how important MIS professionals are for business, and how much value they can bring. This class also introduced me to things like entity relationship diagrams, how to read swimlane diagrams, and look at issues as MIS professionals. This class relates to my job interests because it taught me how to look at problems from a technological perspective. Additionally, it should me how interesting the technology professionals world can be.
