IT intern (May 2022- May 2023)
Role: IT Intern at Subaru of America HQ
I work under the Subaru.com backend team at SOA. My tasks include but are not limited to the following; backend development, data validation, data management, project management, and documentation.
One of my main projects was data management for our charity campaign called Share The Love, I managed data that came from distributors and retailers of Subaru of America. In relation to our Share The Love campaign, I wrote a script in java to validate thousands of image endpoints from our web service. Another project I worked on was in the role of project management to migrate our backend development ticketing system from one platform to another. My daily tasks are often API development or maintenance tasks to complete in order to resolve an issue or provide our partners with tools they need.
This internship taught me a lot about not only tech but also business. I was able to see what corporate business is like and learn skills to communicate, collaborate, and lead. I found this to remind me of a business course I took called leadership and organizational management. On the tech side, I connected much of my work to courses I took from the M.I.S. curriculum. My work in data management at Subaru of America was easy to get into as I was familiar with data management programs from the Data and Analytics course I took. Another task that was made easier from my past course work was my programming development which I attest to the application development courses of the MIS curriculum.
