Master Data Management IT Intern
In the Summer 2022 I accepted an offer to work at Victaulic as a Master Data Management IT Intern. My daily role was assisting my project manager with any MDM related tasks, creating story boards for data governance and data dictionary origins, creating Training Documents, and doing data analysis in an Excel Data Matrix. In the story board projects, I created a presentation to display the importance of data governance and how it can generate healthy, organized data at Victaulic. In the Data Dictionary Origins presentation, I illustrated the origins of Victaulic’s data dictionary to help others better understand what the data and attributes mean, as well as improving data quality and analysis. Both presentations exhibited the concept of eliminating silos and providing people with one source of the truth. The Training Documents gave me the opportunity to explore Riversand MDM platform and better understand the processes that the MDM team and others use to create, document, and regulate efficient data. In my Data Matrix project, I normalized data and attributes so that the data is consistent throughout Victaulic. In Excel, I analyzed and sorted through data to make conclusions about master data being explored.
I have learned a lot about the importance of data and the impact it has on everyone within the company. This internship was a great opportunity to expand my knowledge in data and I am incredibly grateful to have worked with such a great team! Many people had dedicated 1:1 time to help me learn and better my understanding of the importance of MDM. I am so glad I joined Victaulic this summer and will carry these experiences with me everywhere I go!
