AWS vs Azure

Today most of the businesses and startups use on-demand cloud services rather than physical storage devices. Public clouds offer various resources to these companies over the Internet which can be accessed remotely on a pay-as-you-go basis. AWS (i.e, Amazon Web Services) provided by Amazon and Azure Cloud provided by Microsoft are the top vendors of these public clouds.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is widely used secure cloud computing platform provided by Amazon. It was launched in 2006. It provides a mixture of infrastructure, platform and packaged software as a service. It provides computing power, content delivery, database storage, and other functionality to help businesses scale and grow.

Microsoft Azure is an open source and flexible cloud platform operated by Microsoft. It was launched In 2010. It helps in development, service hosting, service management, and data storage. The Azure cloud computing tool hosts web applications over the internet with the help of Microsoft data centers.

Both AWS and Azure provide storage, computing and networking services to industries worldwide. Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) enables users to create subnets, route tables, private IP address ranges, application load balancers, security groups, network gateways, auto scaling groups and RDS. Using auto scaling groups, multiple server instances can be created. In Azure, Microsoft Virtual Network, allows users do the same that VPC does.

AWS has services like EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, AWS Lambda, ECS, etc. Azure has similar services like Azure Virtual Machine, App Service, Azure Functions and Container service, etc.

AWS has temporary storage that allocates an instance when started and destroys the instance when terminated. It provides block storage that can be separate or attached to an instance. Whereas storage services in the case of Azure is Blob, Disk Storage and Standard Archives.

AWS supports the open-source community which is not the case with Azure. Regarding the hybrid-cloud market, Azure is better. Both AWS and Azure are tough competitors and cannot be labeled as the best on a single feature. AWS seems to be a larger cloud provider with lower cost and more developer-friendly, Azure seems to be more compatible with large companies who rely on Microsoft products. Both the vendors are great in innovation and working towards a better cloud service. AWS customers are Airbnb, Unilever, BMW, Samsung, Netflix, MI, Zynga, etc. Some examples of Azure customers are Fujifilm, HP, Honeywell, Apple, and Johnson Controls. Their customers are almost 80% of Fortune 500 companies.

Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC)

Mobile Cloud Computing is a combination of mobile computing, cloud computing, and wireless network. Processing is done in cloud, data is stored in cloud, and the mobile devices serve as media for display. MCC delivers and executes high-quality applications on mobile devices, regardless of the mobile’s operating system, storage capability, and computing tasks.

Mobile cloud computing offers a greater degree of speed, flexibility, multiple platform support, extended battery life and abundant storage space for end-users and applications developers.

Mobile application developers take advantage of a cloud services provider that handles all of the work and back-end capabilities without having to worry about scalability, security, and reliability. This takes the load off the device and thereby enhances its overall performance. Cloud infrastructure is utilized as data resides in cloud storage, the processing happens in the cloud and cloud services are used as application backend.
