Equipping Your IT Team with an Added Layer of Defense
This online event was a discussion between Dr. Kimberlee Brannock and Bryan Langley about the threats within cybersecurity and how business teams can stay protected. The first discussion point of the event was asking the audience if they know about the print fleet lifecycle and what it means for cybersecurity strategy and the protection of sensitive information. Many participants were not aware about this, to which Dr. Brannock had related to its importance with the Russia attack from Anonymous at the beginning of the Ukraine conflict. She gives the best practices for companies to have the extra layer is to have governance within the company. I was also able to learn that the NIST framework is having a new version coming out, which was interesting as we used it in MIS 4596 on our reports. Throughout, there were real-word examples on why the print technologies can be compromised since they are connected through the internet. This event helped in gaining more information within cybersecurity and learn about print fleet lifecycles and print services as a whole.
