IBIT Mentoring Program
The IBIT Mentoring Program involved getting me in touch with an industry professional that would guide me through my many questions about the MIS and tech world. It lasted the length of the Fall 2023 semester and required at least 2 meetings with my selected mentor. The program was sponsored by IBIT and my role as a mentee was to schedule meetings with my mentor and come prepared with a list of questions and conversations to have with my mentor regarding questions I had, whether it be about the mentor’s time at Temple or their professional experiences.
From this program, with the help of my incredible mentor Michael Luckenbill, I was able to learn more about the various fields in tech, specifically with regard to business applications, including project management, database management, data science / business analytics, etc. I learned that there are a variety of ways to traverse the working world to build up to the career that best suits your desires. Along with this, I learned how to better formulate questions, more about the history of MIS at Temple, and what kind of careers are best for me depending on my personality and level of technical skills.
