Business IT internship at RBI Toy Co.
At the start of 2017 I had an awesome opportunity to work at RBI Toy Company, a plush toys & soft sculptures distributor that specializes in designing and distributing unique, custom-made stuffed animals in the US and abroad.
When I started at RBI Toys, they had no online presence whatsoever. During my time there, I was tasked with the job of creating an easily manageable website for a team with very little technological background. Once the website was up and running, I had the opportunity to observe and analyze the many business processes of the company. In particular, I worked alongside the warehouse distribution team in Alpha, NJ to help come up with ideas for how they could automate key manufacturing and service operations. Additionally, I was able to provide technical support in a number of areas for a small team of individuals throughout my time working with the company.
I learned a lot about the many processes that go into the design and distribution of stuffed toys. It was a very unique experience being able to work closely with a very small team that has been in business together at RBI Toys Company since 1993. (Crazy to think they started up the year I was born and have been going strong ever since!) The sense of community their team had is what truly stuck out to me the most; the entire team was like a family and it gave me a much stronger appreciation for the small company atmosphere in general.
