IBIT Mentoring Program
Throughout the Spring 2020 semester, I was given a mentor to guide me through my academic and professional progression, thanks to the IBIT Mentoring Program. We talked throughout the semester and engaged in meaningful, creative discussions. Especially with current events, my mentor and I had a wide variety of conversations, including the up and coming industry trends, AI and all of its practical and potential uses, how technology could help improve the detection, containment, and cure for COVID-19, what employers are looking for in interns and potential employees, as well as many other hot topics. I thoroughly enjoyed this program because it bridges the gap that is often the hardest for students: the transition between college and the post-graduate world. My mentor gave me a lot of great ideas regarding how to spend my quarantine, whether it be reading a new publication on a daily basis or adding value to myself as an employee and intern through certifications and different coursework. Overall, the IBIT Mentoring Program greatly increased my understanding of the path from Temple University to the workforce, and I hope I get to partake in it again next semester to learn more!
