Work Experience

Last summer I completed an internship at Merck. During my 10 week internship, I worked in multiple roles in the Merck Manufacturing Division in IT (MMD-IT). In my first role, I was a business analyst responsible for the raw material data associated with Keytruda manufacturing. My responsibilities included communicating with the manufacturing lab team, gathering and documenting business requirements, and working with the technical team to map data from the old information model to the new one. In this role, I gained a lot of communication and organizational skill as well as a deeper understanding of different data models. In my second role, I was tasked with creating training material for a new supply chain analytics platform that will be used by more than 400 Merck employees. Since I joined the project in its early stages, I was able to learn how to use the Articulate 360 software and take a lead role on the project. I did a majority of the recording, editing, and visual effects for the training modules during my time at Merck. This assignment helped me learn how to quickly pick up new technologies and gave me the opportunity to create training material that will be important to the company.

In addition to the experiences I gained from my summer projects, Merck provided many opportunities for other interns and I to learn a variety of professional skills and grow our networks (development workshops, guest speakers, site visits, etc.). I really enjoyed my time at Merck and would highly recommend working there.

In the summer of 2018 I interned at DecisivEdge, a Delaware based business consulting and technology solutions company. While there, I spent four weeks in each of the company’s three divisions: Business Optimization, Technology Strategy and Solutions Delivery, and Quality Assurance. DecisivEdge is a Gold Partner of Oracle Financial Services and is certified to implement their lending and leasing platform (OFSLL). I worked with this financial platform as well as the PierVantage platform that DecisivEdge built for the marine industry.

During my time with the Business Optimization Team, I attended and participated in meetings to discuss project goals and client deliverables, configured contract data, and built templates for customer data integration (all focused on current OFSLL client engagements).

While working with the Technical Strategy and Solutions Delivery team I was assigned tasks that introduced me to a variety of new technologies including SQL Server, SSIS, and Zendesk.

In my rotation in the Quality Assurance practice, I focused on the writing and execution of test cases involving various functionalities of OFSLL. I was also able to learn about and use Tricentis Tosca software to create automated projects of my own.

The work was very fast-paced and I was often given new assignments daily. My internship at DecisivEdge was an incredible experience. I felt extremely valued and learned a lot during my time with the company. I would encourage anyone reading this – student or professional – to engage with the smart and hard working team at DecisivEdge.
