Marketing Research & Business Development Intern

  1. Information about the organization (e.g., type, size, location, specific division/department in which you are employed)

Stuzo is a small sized marketing insights company located on 211 n 13th street. Stuzo provides a variety of business solutions ranging from insights platforms that come with consultations and app/website development for clients. I worked alongside the marketing and business development team and performed a variety of tasks. I did marketing research which was purposed for the company’s insights site. I also managed this site, added articles, changed data, and many other tasks for this site. I also worked with a production team to help the company launch a new site cstoreconsumerinsights.com. Here – a collection of market insight videos which I created are stored and purposed for clients to use as a resource.

  1. Job function (e.g., overall role, assigned tasks

I was a marketing research and business development intern, but my roles varied across many different business functions. I worked alongside developers, scrummasters, and project managers, and I helped the company launch a new website.  Also, I did a lot of marketing research, website management, and additional video editing work.

  1. Examples of projects (e.g., list the projects you worked on and what you accomplished)

I edited a series of videos when I worked for this company earlier as an independent contractor, and I worked on embedding all of these videos onto the site, adding important information to the site, and helping out with QA. I was glad to perform some critical work for this site to launch, and it was great seeing all the videos I created before becoming an intern come to life on this site. I also performed market research. The company has a rankings list of company’s in the convenience and gas station industry, and I was responsible for managing and updating all of these companies. Although I spent a lot of time in spreadsheets and words during the research process, I spent an equal amount of time in WordPress. I had to upload and manage all of these companies and keep the site updated with current industry news.

  1. What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this internship in the context of specific courses).

I learned the stages of production for a website, which directly related to the inner workings of development that we learned in MIS 3501. Although I didn’t do much coding, I learned about the number of steps, team members, scheduling, and much more needed to develop a website and launch it to market. It helped me understand the role of a project manager, and it allowed me to get some industry experience that would help me attain the role of a project manager sometime later in my career.
