DragonHacks 2019
- Drexel University
- Drexel University, Bossone Research Enterprise Center. April 20th, 2019
- At the Hackathon, I learned about several different solutions that are availible for businesses. For example, I learned that Dell has a iPaaS called Boomi, that I didn’t know existed. Next, the Hackathon reaffirmed my previous knowledge about programming: it’s not enough to simply know syntax. Coding requires a deeper understand of logic, meaning how the code works, and creativity, meaning how to utilize programming knowledge to solve problems.
- The Hackathon was focused around creating solutions using technology. For example, one of the challenges was to create a program that would provide better accessibility to some aspect of technology (like a webpage, for example) for people with disabilities. As MIS majors, we focus on utilizing technology to solve business (or other) problems. It’s not enough to know that a technology exists, as MIS professionals, we need to determine whether or not a tecnology or program suits our needs, and how we can leverage technology to further the company’s goals.
