SAP Procurement Intern

The summer of 2017 I got a great experience of being a SAP procurement intern at Cardone Industries. Cardone Industries is the largest privately held auto parts manufacturer in the world and was co-founded by Michael Cardone Sr and son Michael Cardone Jr in a small row house in North Philadelphia in 1970.  The company has grown tremendously over the past 47 years, now employing over 5,000 employees and has facilities in Philadelphia, California, Texas, Mexico, and Canada. Also, Cardone now offers over 90 product lines and 46,000 SKUs of automotive hard parts. I was given the opportunity to assist on their 48-million-dollar database transition from AS400 to SAP’s ERP system.   My main role during the internship was to assist procurement buyers in identifying missing data not currently in SAP and worked directly with the project manager and consultants to complete the data transition and address issues as they arised.  Also, some other responsibility included creating and organizing Cardone’s certificates of insurance and confidentiality agreements folder, created a process of notifying procurement buyers of outdated purchase orders, and provided Phase 3 SAP procurement technical support as needed.  Overall, I felt the internship provided me with great experience and taught me to quickly adapt to changing requirements and being able to meet deadlines on a fast-paced, high stress vital database transition project that is vital to Cardone’s future success.
