Enterprise Technology Intern
- I worked on the Demand & Delivery team in the Enterprise Technology department. My team bridged the relationship gap between business units and ET teams, assisted with the delivery of technology projects, and worked on continuously improving their demand to project process. My main role was to task out projects and assign resources to those tasks. I also worked on updating dashboards, excel spreadsheets and documentation.
- I assisted on many different projects when I would task out the projects and assign resources. A bigger project I worked on was the Customer Engagement Analysis. We wanted to improve the demand to delivery process so I held interviews with delivery managers and portfolio managers to find out more about their role and what they do in this process. After I conducted interviews, I created a list of tasks in this process and worked with my team to come up with improvement opportunities that would make the tasks more efficient or reduce the amount of work delivery managers had. This project was a huge help to the business because now they know where they can make improvements to their process which benefits the employees and company.
- This role relates to MIS in many different ways. Last semester I was in Enterprise IT Architecture so I learned about the creation of servers, instances, AWS and many more topics. All of the projects I was exposed to were technology projects that involved creating servers, databases, applications and different operating systems. I got to see how these topics I learned about in class were actually used in real life. Another thing I learned about and used in this internship was Agile Development. I learned about Agile Development in Digital Solutions Studio, but at my internship my team used that to work on their continuous improvement efforts. Every two weeks we would have a meeting to go over the stories we have, then add them to the two week sprint. It was cool to see this used in real life. One final class that I believe my internship really relates too, but I didn’t take yet, is Lead Global Digital Projects. This class is about leading technology projects by focusing on initiating, planning and executing them. This relates to my internship because once a project got approved, we held initiation meetings to task out the projects and plan for it, then set the project to executing and regularly checked in with the teams to make sure it was getting done. Overall, this internship taught me a lot about the topics I learn in school and I am very grateful for it.
