My AWS Academy Journey

What I Learned from Completing AWS Academy Cloud Foundations and Cloud Developer

Completing the AWS Academy Cloud Foundations and Cloud Developer courses gave me a comprehensive understanding of AWS and its capabilities. Each course focused on different aspects of cloud computing, and together they provided a clear and structured learning experience.

The Cloud Foundations course covered the fundamentals of cloud computing and introduced me to the AWS ecosystem. I learned about AWS’s global infrastructure, including regions, availability zones, and edge locations, and how these ensure reliability and low latency. The course also explained key services like EC2 for compute, S3 for storage, and RDS for databases. Security was a major focus, with an emphasis on the Shared Responsibility Model and tools like IAM for managing access. Additionally, I gained insight into AWS pricing models and tools for cost management, which helped me understand how to use AWS efficiently.

The Cloud Developer course built on this foundation, focusing on the practical application of AWS tools to build and manage cloud-based applications. I learned how to create serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB, enabling me to deploy applications without managing servers. The course also introduced containerization with Docker and AWS Elastic Container Service, which provided a scalable way to deploy applications.

Another key area was automating development workflows using CI/CD pipelines with AWS CodePipeline and CodeDeploy. This streamlined approach to building and deploying applications was complemented by learning how to use CloudFormation templates to manage infrastructure as code, ensuring consistency and efficiency.

Overall, these courses provided both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The Cloud Foundations course gave me a solid base in cloud computing concepts, while the Cloud Developer course prepared me to apply these concepts to real-world scenarios. Together, they offered a clear path to understanding and working with AWS services.
