AIS Mentorship Program
Fall 2019
This past fall semester, I was very lucky to be a part of the AIS Mentorship Program. Having recently joined the MIS program, and the Fox School in general, I was very new to everything surrounding the major and didn’t really know a lot about MIS coming into this semester. Fortunately, I was able to have a smooth transition into the program and learned a lot, thanks to my mentor, Samprateek Sinha. Sam guided me a lot these past few months, by answering questions about classes, helping me build my resume, and giving advice on how to pick my classes for next semester. Although I started this semester very confused and anxious about joining the MIS program, I feel much more comfortable now and feel like I was able to learn a lot, with the help of the mentorship program and Sam.
Spring 2020
In the Spring 2020 semester, I had the privilege of having Jordan Febles as my mentor. As I began to become more involved with the MIS program and started considering what career options I should pursue, Jordan was a big help for me during this time. He helped me learn a lot about the different paths I could take within MIS and gave me lots of good advice about getting an internship and building my connections. Additionally, he gave lots of useful tips about making myself stand out to employers and certain skills that I could work on the side to help with that process. Although we did not get to meet much in person this semester, Jordan was always willing to keep in touch with me, either through Zoom or text. I learned a lot from Jordan this past semester and I will definitely use his advice as I continue to pursue my career goals.
