Modern cyber threats can come in various formats. With the increasing aptitude for technology, individuals or groups have numerous avenues to access sensitive data or cause harm to people, businesses, or nations. David Lanter hosted this webinar to provide information and garner awareness on these emerging methods. Hacktivism poses a threat by leveraging political, economic, or military objectives as a guise. Ransomware not only poses problems due to the release of sensitive information but also enables perpetrators to profit, leading to an increase in extortion tactics. Additionally, the emergence of technologies such as AI and deep fakes has exacerbated issues related to impersonation and fraud, resulting in financial scams, reputation damage, or social engineering through impersonation. Maintaining vigilance and awareness of these threats goes a long way, fortunately I was made aware of these imposing issues.
