Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

 

In the fall of 2013, I joined the Society for Human Resource Management. It it’s the world’s largest association devoted to Human Resources. SHRM is committed to advancing Human Resources to make sure that it is a valuable need in the workplace. I came in as a sophomore majoring in Business Management really not knowing what to expect. The officers welcomed me with open arms, and I soon felt that I picked the right student organization. After that, I became quickly involved with the many activities that SHRM offered and in the spring of 2014, I was elected Member of the Year. Soon after, I was elected for the Community Relation Director for the 2014-2015 school year. Since joining, I have learned so much from guest speakers, students’ testimonials, and faculty members. Since becoming a member, I have already heard representatives from Comcast, Aramark, Juno Search Partners, and Wegmans. I hope that my work will continue to impact the organization. Beautifully and Naturally Tangled Up (B.A.N.T.U.)

 

Upon entering college in 2012, I joined Beautifully and Naturally Tangled Up (B.A.N.T.U.). It is a natural hair club that promotes healthy hair and a healthy well being. B.A.N.T.U’s goal is to empower, educate, and enhance person’s natural beauty. Since joining, I became involved in the organization’s activities and helped spread the word about the organization. In the fall of 2013, I joined B.A.N.T.U’s executive board. As a member of the board, I help with the planning of our bi-weekly meetings and different activities and programs that we may participate in. This campus club has enabled me to meet new friends as well as get more involved on campus.

Intramural Sports

 

Being involved in athletic activities has always been a passion of mine. In all four years of high school, I played sports and continued with club and intramural sports in college. I was captain of my two varsity (soccer and softball) teams in high school. Even though I do not play D1 sports here at Temple, it is imperative to stay active. During freshman year, I was a member of Temple Women’s Club Soccer (TWCS). Additionally, I play two intramural sports here at Temple including flag football and softball. In the spring of 2013, my softball intramural team won the City Championships in the women’s division at the University of Pennsylvania
