Jr. Data Analyst
Acclara is a revenue cycle management solutions company that helps health care companies recover revenue. There are three locations one in PA, one in Texas, and one in Florida. I work at the PA location, but was mostly virtual. At the PA location there is a team called Alphalytics, this is the technology side of the company, which is where I work. The function of my role as a Junior Data Analyst with Alphalytics was to help design and develop software for our Alphalytics application. We help our clients which are healthcare companies find trends in denials data. These trends allow these healthcare companies to understand common trends as to why insurance companies are getting denied, which then leads to them saving money by preventing these issues. My job along with my coworkers was to continue to develop the data retrieval and output process, to make it as efficient and beneficial as possible. I worked on many projects over this summer including a Microsoft SSRS project, where I created a process log report project to allow internal users to check the live status of files being processed. I also worked on a couple Microsoft SSIS projects creating an ETL process for one of our clients, to load their data into our database, so we can use it for our application. I also did a lot of work modifying already created ETL processes, when new fields and columns are needed. I learned a lot over this summer especially relating to MIS 2502 – Data and Analytics. I have used SQL with almost everything I have worked on. I used SQL Server Management Studio, which is different than MySQL, which we used in that course, but writing queries is very similar. I have learned how to write much more advanced queries, and how those queries are used in the real work place not just for a one time result, but instead a query that is used over and over for a process like ETL.
