Box of Balloons Treasurer
The Goal of Box of Balloons is to help children in the Philadelphia area by providing birthday boxes to children who may not otherwise have a birthday party. In general, especially during these times, it is important that children are celebrated on their birthday and have the opportunity to celebrate. We work with local school and hospitals to find children in need, where our contact (Typically a social worker or school guidance counselor) provides us with their basic information and some facts about the child such as their favorite color and a potential theme for the party. In these birthday boxes, we provide party supplies such as decorations, an activity, gift bags, a gift, cake mix, and tape for a party for up to 6 kids. At our meetings, we build do-it-yourself decorations, activities, and gift bags for these parties. As the treasurer, I handle the accounts and spending through various connected spreadsheets in excel and an account we have open through the Box of Balloons headquarters, as well as help run the meetings and participate in box delivery to the drop of point (Typically the school or hospital). We currently have made over 150 boxes to support children in the Philadelphia area. Iv learned about managing accounts and how to budget throughout semesters, down to how much we can spend on specific events that have provided me with good insight and experience
