Insights and Analytics Intern

This summer I worked as the Insights and Analytics Intern for the Customer Insights and Analytics Department under the Finance Division at Citadel Federal Credit Union.

My main project in this role was re-making the company’s Member Insights Dashboard. The  Tableau dashboard, created 5 years ago and serving as a retail sales tool for the branch members, is the most viewed dashboard at the institution, having received over 80 thousand views already this year with approximately 150 distinct users each week. Formerly a single view single frame dashboard, the new version features navigation tabs, static and dynamic information panels, and show/hide features for less essential information. Not only did I redesign the dashboard, but I was heavily involved in the presentation of the project and its roll-out to the retail staff. I helped lead meetings with senior leadership regarding how the dashboard works and the various new features added.

I was also part of the pilot team for implementing Version and Change control of in-production dashboards and projects using Azure DevOps and GitHub. Just before my internship ended, I was able to help lead the first demo and teaching session for the team.

Furthermore, I was able to collaborate with our team’s data scientist and participate in the development of a predictive model to determine the likelihood of a member to take a wealth management advisor, which allowed me to gain hands-on experience in applying analytics to real business challenges.

Additionally, I was given the task of working with fellow interns from different departments to develop a strategy to engage Gen Z and Gen Alpha as potential new members for Citadel. Our strategy focused mainly on an overarching social media revamp to delve into the market or shortform videos and the utilization of trends and popular audios, but also on increased access to financial literacy tools and a student ambassador program. These recommendations were presented by my team and myself to the senior leadership team (including C-Suite execs) and was very well received.
