MIS 0855: Data Science
This course helped me understand how essential data is now a days and just how powerful it can be when visualized properly. Using Tableau with the open data readily available on the web made me realize how there is so much data out there ready to be visualized and show new results or surprising facts. Not only did I learn how to use Tableau but also how to collaborate with a team throughout group projects and the Data Analytics Challenge. This course helped me in my future goals of working in IT audit because clearly visualizing results and solutions to clients will be essential in making sure the client understands the work being done. Fun fact: This class helped me realize I wanted to add MIS as my second major!
ACCT 3511: Intermediate Accounting I
In this course, I was able to not only learn how each financial statement connects to one another but also solidify my basic accounting knowledge. Furthermore, I was able to read and understand different parts of a public company’s 10K and how that may be viewed in the eyes of a third party or investor. I can see this course being very important in my future career goals of working with controls because of the tremendous amount of financial business knowledge that one learns from the course.
