BDO

Philadelphia, PA

June 2018 – August 2018

Audit Intern

BDO is the world’s fifth largest public accounting firm and is headquartered in Zaventem, Belgium. The firm has three lines of service: Audit and Assurance, Tax, and Advisory.
This past summer (2018), I had the opportunity to intern at one of the largest public accounting firms in the world in its Audit and Assurance practice. I was able to not only gain exposure to the audit practice and the world of public accounting, but also further develop my people skills when working with clients. During client engagements, I became accustomed to using the Audit Process Tool, APT, software, which was essential for industry-specific testing strategies, working paper guidelines, risk supplements, and required communications to those charged with corporate governance. Alongside APT, I was required to be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. All these softwares/tools were essential to each engagement I was on and made understanding the audit process much easier with the hands on experience.
