Philadelphia Housing Authority, PHA
May 2015 – August 2015
The Philadelphia Housing Authority, also known as PHA, is the biggest landlord in Pennsylvania. PHA employs 1,400 people to deliver services and thier budget totals approximately $400 million. PHA’s mission is to provide to affordable housing, economic opportunity and safe, sustainable communities to benefit Philadelphia residents with low incomes.
I worked as a Supply Chain Analyst during the Summer of 2016. I had the opportunity to use my problem solving skills which I acquired from MIS course work. I was tasked with creating expense reports and analyzing fleet data using PeopleSoft and Microsoft Excel. I had to opportunity to attend meetings with David Walsh (Vice President, Supply Chains) and Anthony Davids, ( Vice President, Contracts & Procurement)
African Family Health Organization, AFAHO
August 2014 – Dec 2014
The African Family Health Organization (AFAHO) is a non-profit community-based organization founded to provide culturally and linguistically sensitive health, human and educational services to African and Caribbean immigrants and refugees in the greater Philadelphia area. AFAHO works to address an unmet need among members of the African and Caribbean immigrant and refugee communities in the greater Philadelphia area who experience difficulties accessing health and human services due to cultural, geographic, linguistic, and other barriers.
As an IT Instructor at AFAHO, I had the opportunity to give back to the community. I prepared teaching materials for a beginner’s course in Technology. I interacted with people parts of the world and learnt about their culture. The highlight of period at AFAHO was when one student told me he could use a computer and smartphone, and didn’t his kids assistance.
