MIS 2101- Information Systems in Organizations
In the introductory MIS course, we spoke about the ever-changing technology applications in business today. Topics covered included enterprise systems, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. The class visualized business processes and databases using swimlane diagrams and entity-relationship diagrams. Lastly, Salesforce was used in a mock business situation to learn the value of technology for organizing customer outreach in an organization.
MIS 2402- Data-Centric Application and Development
In this course, I learned programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and j.Query to construct web-based applications. Restful APIs were also utilized to resolve application needs efficiently. The class covered troubleshooting controls for identifying possible issues when coding. Lastly, the course taught the requirements needed for proper organization in application development.
MIS 2502 – Data Analytics
Data Analytics taught technologies used throughout the extract, transform, and load process. The class analyzed and identified data records utilizing structured query language (SQL). Tableau prep was also used to transform datasets into uniform structures so that they can be correctly analyzed. Lastly, the class visualized data trends and mined data with R code. One central theme of the course was that data is only as valuable as the insights drawn from it.
