Work Experience

Administrative Assistant

February 2019- Present

After being granted a work study, I was in pursuit of an on-campus job that would give me great experience in an office setting. I was given the opportunity to be an Administrative Assistant for the Center for Community Partnerships where I work closely with the Business Supervisor and Financial Manager.

My tasks include:

  • Reconciling monthly cost statements for over 20 grants
  • Updating budgets and commitments for each program
  • Updating telecommunication costs
  • Entering survey data to easily be viewed in Excel
  • Reviewing new program proposals

I have acquired valuable skills in Microsoft Office software. Working with the accounting department enhanced my ability to use various components of Excel. I furthered my skills in using tables, charts, and formulas, as well as strengthened my ability to organize information and problem solve. I also learned valuable communication skills through my work with supervisors within each program.

Logistics Intern

September – November 2019

As a Supply Chain major, I looked for an internship that would give me relevant experience in the field. I got the chance to work as a logistics intern with Ocean Export under a Team Leader. I was one of five interns working with this department. I helped many different Logistics Coordinators daily.

My tasks included:

  • Reviewing over 200 booking confirmations each day to assure accuracy
  • Entering and updating data in BDP’s internal database
  • Collecting data on discrepancies between confirmations and the EDI system

This position taught me the importance of every detail. My experience in learning how to use their system effectively in such a short amount of time will help me with future companies.

Business Development Intern

June- August 2019

I worked with a small start-up company making an impact in the community one pair of socks at a time. I particularly loved this company because of their mission as an organization. I was able to work directly with the fundraising aspect and help non-profit organizations raise money for their cause. I worked with a team of interns and assisted with their projects in pop-up markets and online sales as well.

My tasks included:

  • Developing fundraising distribution channel through a streamlined process
  • Working with marketing team to create fundraising webpage
  • Proposing new ideas to expedite requests and fulfillment
  • Researching companies for storage systems

While working as a Business Development Intern for Pals Socks, I demonstrated a strength in working within a team. I learned the importance of meeting deadlines for my specific tasks in order for the team to succeed. The collaborative projects allowed me to gain insight from others to enhance the end product.
