Intern at MSM Social Coaching
I learned about web design, client surveying, and subscription-based mailing lists during my time at MSM Social Coaching. I learned how to migrate data from a previous website through 1and1 to a new WordPress-based site as well as how to update it and to make it more appealing to current and potential clients. I then used SurveyMonkey to survey our current clients and determine what the most common needs were among them. Using this data, we were better able to market our new service, Social Skills Groups, which released in October with great success. I also utilized MailChimp to create a subscription-based mailing list for current and potential clients, as well as parents of clients.
MSM Social Coaching is a service-based business that specializes in the coaching and consultation for teens and adults who are struggling with the transition from high school to college, technical school, or even a career. The MSM Social Coaching team is armed with extensive experience in schools, committees, and workplaces to better bridge the gap between adolescence and adulthood.
My tasks included an overhaul of the dated site that they had created when they started the business, including migrating it from 1and1 to DreamHost and WordPress. This new site reflects the rebranding of the company, which was formerly My Social Mentor LLC. I initialized new emails for the consultants that included the new name of MSM Social Coaching.
I was tasked with creating a survey via SurveyMonkey that inquired about the needs of the local client base, including what region they lived in, the education level of the clients, and the goals of the clients and their parents.
I also helped organize a “DelVal Day” where clients took a tour with the MSM Social Coaching team and myself through Delaware Valley University to better understand what they would experience at college. I emailed parents of clients, created flyers, updated the website with the event information, and coordinated with the university to schedule and organize the day’s itinerary. DelVal Day also included a trip to the disabilities office on campus to discuss the needs and expectations of the counselors that worked there.
My final task was to create a mailing list through MailChimp in order to better market towards our clients by updating them on events, workshops, and new features such as the Social Skills Groups.
