My Internship at PwC
During summer 2016 I was fortunate to Intern in the Process assurance practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. I was responsible for providing services related to controls around the financial reporting, compliance and operational processes, including business process and IT management controls. I helped my team members by performing Controls and assurance services over compliance and operational processes, Controls design and optimization services associated with system implementations, upgrades and fixes. I performed IT general controls audit, including database security, operating system, pre- and post-implementation systems reviews and reporting tools. I provided audit services related to controls around the financial reporting, compliance and operational processes, including business process and IT management controls. I participated in walk through meetings with client. One of my favorite experiences was getting to network with seniors and partners at different firm sponsored networking events.
It was a great experience to work at PricewaterhouseCoopers this summer. During my internship, I have been exposed to various industries and various sectors of the business which have allowed me to learn a lot. I have developed new skills like how to better be organized, how to better communicate, the knowledge that I have gained on IT auditing and the most important things is the valuable connections I made at the firm. The work experience I have gained at the firm will definitely be helpful in my career as an IT professional no matter what firm I end up working in. I did not really know what to expect when I started this internship but now I can say that I definitely learned a lot about the IT audit process and I am ready to face the professional world. PwC really focuses on developing its employees’ career. My knowledge from the classroom also helped me when faced with some concepts. Everyone is willing to help you at the firm and the company has a great culture. For me this experience is an important step to a successful career as an IT professional. I’m very excited to see what the future holds as an IT professional.
