Best Buy Inc. – King of Prussia, PA – Computer Sales Associate – Seasonal Winter 2008
From late 2008 to early 2009, I had a very valuable experience as a sales associate in the King of Prussia Best Buy’s computer department. My duties were to help customers navigate the department to find what they needed, explain important concepts in consumer electronics so the customer could make informed choices about their needs, and introduce customers to new products.
In this position, I was able to use much of the knowledge I had gained from working with people at Team Children (mentioned below) and apply it to sales. Desktops and laptops were the big-ticket items that received the most attention from the customers and required the most involved sales process.

Team Children Inc. – Audubon, PA – Nonprofit volunteer – Intermittent starting April 2006
Team Children is a non-profit organization based in Audubon, PA that receives computers from donors, refurbishes them, and then redistributes them to individuals and families who would otherwise be unable to afford a computer. I first started working with Team Children at the end of my senior year in high school for an internship program that allowed us to receive school credit. The organization runs out of a warehouse where we would receive donated computers, test them, and refurbish them with working parts. We would also meet with the individuals or families who would be taking the computers home and show them how to operate the machines and demonstrate some of the children’s learning software we put on every computer at no extra cost.
My work as a volunteer included work with computer hardware, and software, and working with the recipients of computers to help them with technological issues or teach them how to use their new systems and software. We also worked with common enterprise software like Norton Ghost, which we used to install our custom made hard drive images on every computer.
