Panel Discussion – Cyber Risk, Insurance and Related Job Market Confirmation
What I learned:
Alan Phan who works at Chubb as VP IT Audit explains how the company approaches the increase of cyber risk. He talks about how they decide what kind of controls do we have set in place and are we comfortable if an attack attempt occurs. Also, does the company have the resources to keep employees up to date on issues. He mentions how more training is always being done to meet demand for security risk.
Kara Higginbotham talked about the process of underwriting cyber insurance. She explains how the company evaluates what is the potential loss they would expect, and what is the organization doing to mitigate that risk.
Lastly, I learned about real examples of cyber security risks like malware attacks and data breaches.
This was an interesting panel to learn from as I am taking the MIS cybersecurity course right now. It was interesting to hear about how insurance companies deal with cyber, and the types of careers that people interested in cybersecurity should pursue.
