It occupies 163.58 acres. Center City Campus is across the street from Philadelphia city Hall. The Campus offers undergraduate and graduate courses and full degree programs in the evening, as well as non-credit workshops and seminars.

I am a Temple Owl! How can I not give Temple University five stars? Temple has made me who I am today. The various opportunities one experiences at Temple are life changing. I was fortunate enough to work side-by-side with my professors. I performed research for all 4 years of my undergraduate education. I was able to present said research all over the country at various conferences. I was a teaching assistant and peer tutor. I was part of a wide range of extra curricular activities. From tennis club to french club to the neuroscience society, I was there. The professors are extremely knowledgeable. Their diversity forces you to take a second look at everything. Temple’s school spirit may not be as obnoxious as Penn State’s, but it’s there. The wild cherry section is always roaring! During the Fall semester, you can find thousands of student painting the Linc cherry and white. In the Spring, we fill up the Liacourias Center. There’s no doubt Temple University runs Philadelphia. We are everywhere: North Philly, Center City, Chinatown, Northeast Philly. Yeah, it might not be in the best area of the city, but it adds to the culture. You get to see different walks of life in and outside the classroom. I am proud to be TEMPLE MADE

Temple has been and will always be the crown jewel of acceptance, logic, and real world preparation in Philadelphia. None of the other universities in the city come close (I made the mistake of going to a different one for law school and ended up not finishing as a result). Took a class at Temple Law as a visiting student — was 100% better than the classes I attended at the other school I chose. People were nicer, professors were more prepared, just the best experience I’ve ever had. Met some of my best friends here and will be thankful for life that I went instead of going Ivy as I wanted. Wasted so much money on private schools. Temple was a better education, better people and the best community experience in the city. I’m tough because of Temple. It made me who I am. OWL FOR LIFE.
Great school for media; communications; and Business majors (i.e. finance, marketing, accounting, economics, MIS, business management and entrepreneurship); good night life; excellent food; lots of educated black people. Be sure to watch out at night because campus police on bikes don’t really do much. Also the school is very bad at helping transfer students obtain employment and internships.
Mediocre staff, most students are beyond rude and racist. Hard to find good parking! Classrooms are outdated with technology! Only thing this University cares about is it’s football team. Advisors don’t give good advice and teachers don’t really teach. CAUTION: Apply to a different school.

I now regret going to Temple. I can’t get work. My degrees are worthless. Since graduating I been unhoused several times, contemplated suicide, and commit petty crimes just to get by. I don’t have any hope. Just debt that I’m buried under. I’m trying to get help leaving the country. And I’m not happy with my family for coming to America. Worst decision they ever made. I never in my life thought I’d say that. Nor did I ever believe that getting an education would be a bad idea. I’m worth more dead than I am alive. The American dream is a lie. My only dream is that I can live out my remaining years in peace. Since I’m under attack from all sides I’m not sure peace nor happiness is in the cards. Being an alum doesn’t even get me treatment in Temple hospital. I got rejected for help because my insurance is from Delaware. I now realize that I wasted my life. I want a do over. But there’s no respawn in real life. I will die with so many regrets. And thinking that going back to school to turn my life around was not one of them. Good luck. I’ve dedicated 5 years to this school. The professors were probably the best thing about this school. If you’re in the School of Public Health you’ll love Prof. Scarpulla. She is probably the most influential and most caring professor I’ve ever had. The location is not the best. Parking was always an issue. Safety is also a concern. During orientation they teach on how to avoid rape…..so that’s not a good sign. The campus is pretty clean though.

This was posted 5 months ago when the TUGSA strike was occurring so this was probably posted by a unhappy grad student. There is definitely some biased opinions in this statement which was caused by the unfolding situation.
Temple has been nothing but a nightmare to me. I chose temple because it has great academics and it does! The classes and the support for classes is phenomenal, but what really makes this school miserable to me is everything else. This is just my experience and if you like partying and city life, this is a good school for you. But what has been terrible for me is the food, the health services and the overall campus itself. I live in Johnson and the nearby dining hall is j and h dining hall and it has the worst food I have ever tasted. The variety is non existent and the food thy do serve is not acceptable. I got sick eating the burger and because everything is so horrendous, I refused to eat their and I almost starved to death. When I went to get myself checked out after I vomited blood, the people at the health services told me to come in the next day when I told them I was vomiting blood and I had to have my mom come all the way from home to philly to take me to the local hospital where I had to have surgery and stay a few nights! If I did what they said and waited for the appointment the next day, I could have been in terrible shape! It scares me that the food services and the health services are practically worthless in this school because instead of trying to have fun, I’m more concerned with surviving the year! I have already decided that after this year I will transfer out because I can’t take the lousy services this school offers. But like previously stated, this is just my experiences and the academics are wonderful which is why I chose temple. But don’t expect decent food or care because u probably won’t find it here. Sorry Temple but you just aren’t for me

I thought this review was interesting because they gave Temple a one-star review, but started out the review by acknowledging that they didn’t attend the school. Clearly, you can’t give an accurate review of your experience at the school if you only visited campus a couple times and didn’t even attend the school. I think there was intentional bias in the review, as they gave a pretty clear review based on one visit. The review is not helpful because again, this person doesn’t have accurate experience to review the university.
Temple Made! The school is in a great location in Philly with easy access to everything the city has to offer. Campus is lined with some of the best food trucks in Philly. Temple’s student resources are excellent and improving. The facilities are currently being upgraded. Overall, I had a great experience with my undergrad.

1) Some potential biases in this comment could be when the student drove to campus. As a commuter myself I find myself coming to campus at 6AM so I can use the athletic facilities in peace. I never has issues finding parking.
2) The reviews don’t do a good job in describing the school. Most complaints derive from the amentinies and safety of the city rather than academics. While most of the praise comes from the diversity and accesibility of everything.
3) How recent was the review? Were they a student or just a visitor? Their “comment history”.
My daughter and i have been incredibly pleased by the education she is getting here. There is a wide range of activities, instruction and outside opportunities at this great university.
Great campus life. Food Trucks as good as 4 star restaurants.
Nice off campus non university run housing.
A supermarket, movie theater and other shopping.
Would recommend to anyone.
Today: Just made my final tuition payment in person.Fast and easy.

WORST experience I have ever seen. Philadelphia is NOT a safe place. I have been getting alerts from Temple U about break-ins, burglary, and theft. The city is filthy and unsafe. Off-canpus housing cost a fortune just for slum and filth. No help from advisor and the advisors charge hundreds of dollars for matriculation including other fees. They RAISED the tuition this Fall 2016 AFTER they accepted my application (which I had to pay $200 for it online), but they did NOT raise the loans and grants they gave. Yet, they DON’T give enough loans and they tell you to get a private loan. HORRIBLE place….I can go on and on: do NOT be fooled…Temple is not safe, it’s filthy, disrespectful, and too costly….GO ELSEWHERE.
This is the inexpensive option? For a PA resident a masters degree is 43,000 dollars.

This review is biased toward the recent strike from temple grad students. While the point they’re making may be valid it does not mention anything past that and is not representative of Temple as a whole. This is an example of “review bombing.”

There is a bias towards a flawed education system which means there is a negative view towards the system. There is also bias in favor of high wage students, which suggests that Valerie has a belief in unequal financial support. This review makes people less want to attend Temple and drags the reputation down. This shows that it is all opinion base and how review and be totally different all around.
SUGGESTION : YOU NEED TO CREATE A MEANINGFUL PROGRAM TO REACH THE ACCUSED. YOU’VE KEPT THE HOOD OUT OF TEMPLE AND ALLOWED PEOPLE FROM OUT OF THE HOOD WHO HAVE DIFFERENT BUT SAME LIFE CIRCUMSTANCES. Just one time visit cannot be precise data for research or comment, although there are some reasons people feel bad about the environment around Temple University, it is still a relative safe place to go. It is not helpful for chosing a place to study.

This is the most recent review I found on Google Maps. I found it to be quite biased because the reviewer only focuses on the neighborhood around the school rather than the school itself.

There may be some intentional bias and a twist of survivorship bias. Firstly, based on the first review, people tend to make reviews on the area and location, which could skew people to deviate from researching further about Temple, like with their academic programs, organizations, etc. Secondly, the second review only gives a very vague and linear review, not really detailing why they feel about Temple so positively. They may only recommend Temple because they had a good experience, never minding everyone else’s potential experiences. These reviews should really contain a wider variety of aspects on why they feel the way they feel about Temple, instead of choosing one aspect and neglecting the rest.
Temple really opens up doors when you network with the professors there. Got my current job through a professor I had there. Learned a ton, and I miss the halal food trucks there so bad.
Definitely no hand holding, which was a major plus for me but may not be for everyone.

The school is quite big but i was able to find all the help I needed. The resources and staff are great and the campus is very pretty and well kept.

They have the Top Nursing Program in The United States.

WORST experience I have ever seen. Philadelphia is NOT a safe place. I have been getting alerts from Temple U about break-ins, burglary, and theft. The city is filthy and unsafe. Off-canpus housing cost a fortune just for slum and filth. No help from advisor and the advisors charge hundreds of dollars for matriculation including other fees. They RAISED the tuition this Fall 2016 AFTER they accepted my application (which I had to pay $200 for it online), but they did NOT raise the loans and grants they gave. Yet, they DON’T give enough loans and they tell you to get a private loan. HORRIBLE place….I can go on and on: do NOT be fooled…Temple is not safe, it’s filthy, disrespectful, and too costly….GO ELSEWHERE.
Imagine trying to punish employees for going on strike, then you revoked their tuition and forced them to pay within a month.
All of this is illegal, have fun with a major lawsuit.

This is the inexpensive option? For a PA resident a masters degree is 43,000 dollars.
Surely great professors, but its like looking at them from a mountain top with that sort of bill. Surely, its also less expensive than other expensive options.

Temple University blatantly disregards freedoms of students. Students have no choice on what they want to do with their bodies and their health.

1.) This individual might have bias because their review is based off of “just from observations” and they have a favored political leaning when looking at the end of their review.
2.) When the review is unbiased, informational and looking at the institution as a whole yes. Though when the reviews are bias off of one individual’s experiences they are not reliable.
3.) When the review is made off of personal choices and perceptions.

This review is biased toward the recent strike from temple grad students. While the point they’re making may be valid it does not mention anything past that and is not representative of Temple as a whole. This is an example of “review bombing.”

What a gross representation of a flawed education system. It is illegal to punish students for peaceful demonstrations. We see what you are trying to do. I hope there a class lawsuit against administrators and the board who pushed for this. Students deserve a living wage.
There is a bias towards a flawed education system which means there is a negative view towards the system. There is also bias in favor of high wage students, which suggests that Valerie has a belief in unequal financial support. This review makes people less want to attend Temple and drags the reputation down. This shows that it is all opinion base and how review and be totally different all around.
SUGGESTION : YOU NEED TO CREATE A MEANINGFUL PROGRAM TO REACH THE ACCUSED. YOU’VE KEPT THE HOOD OUT OF TEMPLE AND ALLOWED PEOPLE FROM OUT OF THE HOOD WHO HAVE DIFFERENT BUT SAME LIFE CIRCUMSTANCES. TEMPLE HAS TO MEET THE NON STUDENTS WHO BELIEVE IN THE HOOD CULTURE. THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER. OFFER ILLITERATE AND UNFORTUNATE PEOPLE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD TO BE TAUGHT 2 DAYS A WEEK FOR FREE BY YOUR FUTURE SCHOLARS, ATHLETES DR.’S AND LAWYER’S. ETC. FORGE A MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TEMPLE STUDENTS AND THE PEOPLE FROM THE NEIGHBORHOODS. THIS COULD WORK ONLY IF YOU DO A PILOT PROGRAM.

Just one time visit cannot be precise data for research or comment, although there are some reasons people feel bad about the environment around Temple University, it is still a relative safe place to go. It is not helpful for chosing a place to study.
Great school for media; communications; and Business majors (i.e. finance, marketing, accounting, economics, MIS, business management and entrepreneurship); good night life; excellent food; lots of educated black people. Be sure to watch out at night because campus police on bikes don’t really do much. Also the school is very bad at helping transfer students obtain employment and internships.
A vibrant campus with people of multi diversity amalgamating around. The area is protected by temple police so is pretty safe

a. Upset because of the application process introduces bias, people who leave a review are more likely to be on an extreme (loved or hated), most people who are mildly ambivalent probably are not motivated to leave a review.
b. Yes, but must be taken with a grain of salt because of biasses, may still provide information about the school.
c. Reasonably written, an actual student/faculty/or someone with experience with the school, even better if it is someone with experience in more than one school, touches on multiple aspects of the subject of the review.

This is the most recent review I found on Google Maps. I found it to be quite biased because the reviewer only focuses on the neighborhood around the school rather than the school itself.

There may be some intentional bias and a twist of survivorship bias. Firstly, based on the first review, people tend to make reviews on the area and location, which could skew people to deviate from researching further about Temple, like with their academic programs, organizations, etc. Secondly, the second review only gives a very vague and linear review, not really detailing why they feel about Temple so positively. They may only recommend Temple because they had a good experience, never minding everyone else’s potential experiences. These reviews should really contain a wider variety of aspects on why they feel the way they feel about Temple, instead of choosing one aspect and neglecting the rest.
Temple really opens up doors when you network with the professors there. Got my current job through a professor I had there. Learned a ton, and I miss the halal food trucks there so bad.
Definitely no hand holding, which was a major plus for me but may not be for everyone.
Minus a star because the campus is not safe at all. Frequent alerts about robberies and muggings- definitely don’t go out at night here.
