I am a graduate student here, and feel like I have been given every opportunity I need to succeed and enhance my education. Temple might not have as much funding as Penn, but I feel like the quality of education is right on par.
It is a good school — affordable tuition, big campus, and lots of resources. Only thing bad is the neighborhood at the late evening. I try to take classes during the day. Temple police are always patrolling the campus to ensure students are safe.

“Temple is an excellent university. It is well respected throughout the Delaware Valley, Tri-State Area, and particularly in major Northeastern cities. Temple provided me with a top-notch education and a strong academic foundation allowing me to pursue some highly ranked graduate programs. I can’t emphasize enough how great my experience as a Temple undergraduate was. Temple is very noble in its mission and boasts a diverse array of students from different ethnicities, nations, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I can genuinely say that Temple U is a wonderful university that provided me with an excellent undergraduate education and an overall great college experience. Lastly, Temple University is a sleeping giant as it is one of the largest national research universities in the United States.”

Graduated in 2008. Chose another place to go to law school, even though I got in. Mistake. Temple has been and will always be the crown jewel of acceptance, logic, and real world preparation in Philadelphia. None of the other universities in the city come close (I made the mistake of going to a different one for law school and ended up not finishing as a result). Took a class at Temple Law as a visiting student — was 100% better than the classes I attended at the other school I chose. People were nicer, professors were more prepared, just the best experience I’ve ever had. Met some of my best friends here and will be thankful for life that I went instead of going Ivy as I wanted. Wasted so much money on private schools. Temple was a better education, better people and the best community experience in the city. I’m tough because of Temple. It made me who I am. OWL FOR LIFE

It is also fair to comment the name TU, although very familiar in the center city of Philadelphia, is not very well known outside of Philadelphia. So, if you plan on moving to the West coast after college, you should think twice…”

My experience so far has been fine. There has been some ups and downs, but nonetheless fine. It’s been quite an adventure and a pretty interesting one. Lots of extracurriculars, it’s been easy to be involved on campus, the professors are great, it’s been quite easy to make friends, and the campus itself is beautiful. But Temple really needs to do better with financial aid, because financial aid kind of sucks, some buildings on campus need renovations, and Temple needs to do better for students that commute. But besides that, I’m proud to be a Temple student.

worst place you can go to ever. Especially their college of SCience and Technology. I went there as a pre-med student, and I remember my first year, there were about 800 people attending as pre-med students then by the last year, there were only less than 200 people that are still interested in a professional career and more than 150 of these people could not go directly to a professional school because Temple uses weed out courses that either makes you change your field of study or ruins your GPA that you have to either do a masters or a post bac after your four years at temple to be able to go to a professional school. Until this moment I don’t know anyone that went directly from temple undergrad to a highly competitive field as medicine or dentistry without any kind of a program in between. That’s why many of the students at Temple undergrad try to go to professional schools that do not belong to temple after they graduate because they are all sick of it. If you want to do anything in the professional medical field GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I really regret going there so if you care about your future go somewhere else.

Attending Temple University has been one of the best choices I’ve made in my life. I transferred from Penn State, which is itself a fantastic school, and found Temple’s urban campus to be a great fit for me. Temple offers great academics, internship opportunities, extracurricular activities, sports programs, a beautiful campus–which they are always building up to be even bigger and better, caring and highly educated professors–many of whom will give their personal numbers to students for any extra help they may need, and a friendly and diverse student body.
Having been to two of Pennsylvania’s flagship universities offers me good insight. While both schools are great, I don’t think anyone can argue against the more clear advantage Temple enjoys over Penn State: its geographical location. Having its main campus located in the heart of Philadelphia provides a wealth of opportunities for education, student life, internships, cultural experiences, and employment opportunities.
I’ve enjoyed Temple so much I’m planning on sticking around for another three years to attend Temple’s highly ranked Beasley School of Law.
–Just one of the nearly 10,000 proud graduates of Temple University’s Class of 2017!
I visited this University on Business at the end of the year. This University is a public state-related research university in Philadelphia. It was founded in 1884 by the Baptist minister Russell Con well and his congregation Grace Baptist Church of Philadelphia then called Baptist Temple.
Temple University has six campuses and sites across Pennsylvania, plus international campuses in Rome and Japan. The main campus is in Noth Philadelphia, about 1.5 miles (2.4km) north of Center city. It occupies 163.58 acres. Center City Campus is across the street from Philadelphia city Hall. The Campus offers undergraduate and graduate courses and full degree programs in the evening, as well as non-credit workshops and seminars.
International campuses is Japan Campus. The Japan Campus is a branch campus in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo. It was the oldest and largest campus of any foreign university in Japan. In addition to its core undergraduate program, Japan campus has graduate programs in law, business, and education, especially, An English -language preparation program; continuing education courses; and corporate education classes.

Temple really opens up doors when you network with the professors there. Got my current job through a professor I had there. Learned a ton, and I miss the halal food trucks there so bad.
Definitely no hand holding, which was a major plus for me but may not be for everyone.
Minus a star because the campus is not safe at all. Frequent alerts about robberies and muggings- definitely don’t go out at night here.
a. What kind of biases there may be in the review?
There are many biases because of the majority of the reviews come from temple students along with the fact that they all have their own opnions and one might say I love the city and another can say they like serenity and peace during their time at college. This also regarding people majors and such.
b. Are the reviews helpful for choosing a place to study?
Yes because take into account that most of the people who review went there however, do not base it off the reviews because there is a large bias along with reviews from other student will obviously tell you to come her.
c. What kind of cues do you look for when assessing the reliability of online reviews? When the information is skewed to the point where there is a correlation but it is not direct, different opinions and constructive criticism

There’s quite a bit to do at Temple and variety of activities. The campus is nice and pretty big, and the area isn’t THAT bad as I went; there are a lot of police patrolling the campus, can be a good thing or a bad thing in your eyes. My only issue so far in my first year is the staff when you call. Almost NO ONE ever picks up and it takes forever(talking up to 2 hours or so) for them to answer your call, and then instantly just transfer you to another person when you ask them a question. It gets really irritating at times, especially when it comes to financial aid. Other than that, I am enjoying my first year here, and hope to spend the rest of it there. Will be updated next year~

I just finished reading an article in The New York Times about how colleges make their acceptance rates look better (lower, thus appearing more exclusive) by purchasing names from the College Board of potential students they would never accept. I realize now that this is what happened with my daughter and Temple. Her grades are admittedly not great, but Temple literally sent postcards, catalogs and called her every week for many months last year. It was not a top choice for my daughter based on the majors offered, and Temple did not accept her, but many many schools of higher reputation did accept her, and with scholarships. So now I realize that this is why. Shame on you Temple, for so aggressively soliciting students you had no intention of letting in. I can not say this about any other school of the 20 she applied to. Your acceptance rate of 50pct equates more like to 75pct if not for shenanigans.
a) There is obvious bias in this review seeing as the daughter of the reviewer did not get accepted to the school, and she seems very upset about it.
b) Not really, there are not many reviews and most of them are either very positive or very negative will bias.
c) I try to avoid reviews with obvious bias, reviews with strong emotions, or reviews where the reviewer has little to no actual experience with the product or service. I look for level headed rational reviews that come from strong experience.
Temples Business School College is called FOX. This College is very different than all the other Colleges within Temples.
The Instructors are not teachers. They are from the business world and this explains the problem.
They act Friendly and helpful. However, they wore Arrogant and Self-absorbed. Majority of them are very Unhelpful when Approached. The good and helpful Instructors are fired.
Most international Students are singled out and are made Afraid to speak out. If and when someone speaks out, they try everything they can possibly do to cover their colleagues back. I have seen them put a student through numerous Disciplinary hearings in order to make the student exhausted enough to give-up, or to leave the school. Making other Afraid to speak out.
FOX is making the programs artificially more difficult to improve their ranking statistics. For-instance, the FOX Management Information Systems (MIS) department keeps changing their requirements. Minimum grade to pass a class is now C+ and may retake the class one (1) time before they kick the students out of the program. This is a different requirement than the one set out by FOX school. FOX says passing is a D or D+ and students may retake the class three (3) time before they kick them out.
This shows the Main Focus of this school is Ranking and Money. They just DO NOT CARE about the STUDENTS! They Trying to Broken the Spirits of the students. They lie every time you meet with anyone. The can be from admissions office, FOX Advisors, of even the Department Chair. After meeting it is not surprising to receive a day to a few weeks later an obscure email stating an apology and a change to any agreements made within the meeting.
By their own admission Temple says, in average it takes Students Six (6) Years to finish a 4 year degree. This means so-many people take much longer than 6 years to finish a degree. All pointing to one irrefutable fact, that Temple FOX school DO NOT CARE about the STUDENTS, just the Money.
If transferring in with a 2-year degree from a local college. Do not make the same mistake as I did and start taking classes like they instructed me to; Insuring that they will transfer, They hook me in. By the time the give a transfer of credits it is too late to leave the school.
It took them one and a half (1.5) year to fully evaluate my transcript. Clamming there are only 2 people in the whole school that deals with my local school, that was in the same city!!!
I recommend this school for everything except the FOX Business School of Temples.

WORST experience I have ever seen. Philadelphia is NOT a safe place. I have been getting alerts from Temple U about break-ins, burglary, and theft. The city is filthy and unsafe. Off-canpus housing cost a fortune just for slum and filth. No help from advisor and the advisors charge hundreds of dollars for matriculation including other fees. They RAISED the tuition this Fall 2016 AFTER they accepted my application (which I had to pay $200 for it online), but they did NOT raise the loans and grants they gave. Yet, they DON’T give enough loans and they tell you to get a private loan. HORRIBLE place….I can go on and on: do NOT be fooled…Temple is not safe, it’s filthy, disrespectful, and too costly….GO ELSEWHERE.

Dangerous. Muggings and people being jumped. Terrible area. Wish I didn’t have to give any stars at all.
3A. Experience bias, there could ne similarity bias as well, where we have a different opinion on something and someone else would have something different.
3B. Not really, because they all depends on likes and dislikes, because some people prefers to study in city, and some refers to study in town.
3C. Check whether the person who gave a review is legit or a bot (fake) review, time of the review, location of the person, photo of the person, photos attached in the review.

Temple Made! The school is in a great location in Philly with easy access to everything the city has to offer. Campus is lined with some of the best food trucks in Philly. Temple’s student resources are excellent and improving. The facilities are currently being upgraded. Overall, I had a great experience with my undergrad.

“I fell in love with the school since I was a second grader, when my mom took me with her to a meeting she had on the campus. These past 4 years has been some of the greatest moments of my life. Temple is a great value for the cost. Stay great owls!!”

Human Resources staff are bias in reviewing resumes and qualifications to positions at the University. Do Not Apply!
