An utter craphole, as anyone who has attended or been employed at any other large public university will tell you. Horrible place to work, but I felt even worse for the poor students who were getting a joke of an education. Incompetent administration, dead-weight tenured faculty, ugly-as-all-hell campus. Unless they’re giving you a free ride for graduate work, you can do so much better.
I contacted these people ONCE.. and now I’m getting nothing but spam upon spam with no way to ‘unsubscribe’. It would be cheaper to go back to my own college for grad school than to take them up on their “online courses”.. which require you to stay at their facility for a week during “orientation”. Most graduate programs will offer you tools and resources to ensure you’ll get the best, but also have the opportunity to grasp a job upon completion. If you’re looking for just the degree, fine. If you’re looking for the degree and the possibility to meet contacts and have a shot at a job scouting you.. look elsewhere. From what I’ve experienced from just the contacting/information phase.. there is no way I’d trust these people with my money. Not to mention that none of the e-mails you get are directly through a representative nor can you respond back through that e-mail. If I’m sent an e-mail through a company, I want to at least be able to respond back directly to whom sent me that e-mail. Very low transparency = Temple University is hiding something. Do not trust.
Temple Made! The school is in a great location in Philly with easy access to everything the city has to offer. Campus is lined with some of the best food trucks in Philly. Temple’s student resources are excellent and improving. The facilities are currently being upgraded. Overall, I had a great experience with my undergrad.
I now regret going to Temple. I can’t get work. My degrees are worthless. Since graduating I been unhoused several times, contemplated suicide, and commit petty crimes just to get by. I don’t have any hope. Just debt that I’m buried under. I’m trying to get help leaving the country. And I’m not happy with my family for coming to America. Worst decision they ever made. I never in my life thought I’d say that. Nor did I ever believe that getting an education would be a bad idea. I’m worth more dead than I am alive. The American dream is a lie. My only dream is that I can live out my remaining years in peace. Since I’m under attack from all sides I’m not sure peace nor happiness is in the cards. Being an alum doesn’t even get me treatment in Temple hospital. I got rejected for help because my insurance is from Delaware. I now realize that I wasted my life. I want a do over. But there’s no respawn in real life. I will die with so many regrets. And thinking that going back to school to turn my life around was not one of them. Good luck. Hope your life goes better than mine did. Bye.
I am completely biased as Temple is my alma mater. That being said, I absolutely LOVE this school.
Everything from the class selection, instructors, and counselors to the extra curricular activities (clubs, sororities, leadership programs, etc) made my 4 years at the university some of the best of my life.
The student housing sometimes is frustrating as the nicer options are extremely expensive and sometimes, not really worth the amount you’re paying (read: The Edge) but the experience is phenomenal rooming with friends/ strangers.
The financial aid/ bursar’s office is another story. Lots of headaches and migraines arose from constant battles with the two departments but much like the other reviewer, I still think it was worth the fight and the money for the experience and education.
My one tip: make sure to be careful when going off campus! Temple is notorious for being placed smack dab in North Philly and if you’re familiar with the city you know that it’s not the safest of areas. However, the Temple police are constantly surveying the campus and they make sure that if you’re on campus, you’re safe and protected.
Over priced as hell. Ordered a turkey sub the first time it was decent but payed 9 dollars for the “half” sized price. Pretty small .Then got a chicken wrap for the same price a few days later. It was garbage. To say the least. And small
Mediocre staff, most students are beyond rude and racist. Hard to find good parking! Classrooms are outdated with technology! Only thing this University cares about is it’s football team. Advisors don’t give good advice and teachers don’t really teach. CAUTION: Apply to a different school.
Jesse Hoffman- Didn’t attend temple but visited their campus. Terrible surrounding neighborhood slums, dangerous area, and street parties were happening. Pretty sketchy school just from observations and quite left leaning politically

What a gross representation of a flawed education system. It is illegal to punish students for peaceful demonstrations. We see what you are trying to do. I hope there a class lawsuit against administrators and the board who pushed for this. Students deserve a living wage.
So far, in my first semester here, I think Temple University, Japan Campus is great! It feels like my teachers and the admin really care about the students here. There are so many fun activities and clubs to get involved in. I will say, the classes that assigned homework gave a lot and all the projects I was assigned took a lot of my time; however, I still managed to hang out with my friends and explore the city a lot. You just need to manage your time well or lose some sleep. When you’re coming to the Japan campus for your first semester on a visa and you’re under 22, you are required to stay in the dorms or live with a host family. I did the second option and I personally thought it was a little difficult. You’ll need to adjust your time and habits to fit their schedule and ways. My commute to school was about an hour, including a 15-20 min walk to the train station. The dorms are also pretty far though, so I wish there were closer housing options especially as it’s mandatory.
Temple University is O.k .The students are a bit wild and crazy. They have a very urban vibe to them. Temple university is extremely greedy power and money hungry. There is a private realestate war going on behind the scenes. Temple wanted to buy all the housing in the area from the poor at rock bottom prices and when many of the private owners declined there offers and rented out there homes to students Temple got mad and made this long term plan to build new high rise buildings to compete with the residents and stuff the students in there like cattle. When the students finally wake up from the housing trap, they can’t wait to leave those shiny new buildings were there whole life is controlled like a little bitty baby. The area is really not the safe no matter were you live. The students have easy access to drug dealers since they all hang around seeking out the students, all the drug dealers live in the area since the neighborhood is still surrounded by the poor. Temple hospital is absolutely filthy . I went into the E.R and it was so filthy. Blood was every where. I was so grossed out .I caught a rash from one of the testing procedures that I get all the time and never got a rash from dirty equipment. Hind sight 20/20.I should of sued them. They also.treat the patients horrible no kind of compassion. That’s why I have abandoned Philadelphia ER hospitals and go to the outskirts of philly at Paoli. Hospital its clean and they care about there patients. If you plan to attend Temple I do think its easy for students to make friends here which is good for long term friendships. Temple is a real university so you have to work hard. There is no easy way out. Mostly everybody can find a boyfriend or girlfriend to link up with there’s so many students. I noticed the social life is good.

Since I’ve “been here and done that”, I think I hold the rights to speak freely about the campus that held me captive for five years.
I loved Temple. I’m seriously thinking about going back for my masters degree in the fall. We’ll see about that, but for all those thinking about campuses and not certain as to what their looking for, allow me to say this. If your looking for campus life, there isn’t much here. Temple is a comuters haven. All the student housing is cramped on the edges of campus, and what lurks beyend those borders, you DON’T want to discover. The surrounding area is complete trash. Very limited places to shop, hang out, drink, meditate off of campus. It’s just not the area to wander off into. There’s a bunch of transportation options for those getting stir crazy, that will take you all over town, but still you need to watch yourself.
If your looking for wide girthed studies, your inner independence, ethnic foods, and networked connections you’ll hold onto for years, then Temple is that place. Temple offers so very much for student life within it’s walls. It’s just the outside you need to be watchful of.
I have to say Temple gave me back oppurtunities I thought had passed their time for me. I have never been so inspired.

The only school that is cheaper than Temple in Philly is the community college. Sometimes, even a cheapskate will admit that you get what you pay for…
I took two business classes (2008-Center City campus) , two intro engineering classes (2010-main campus), and a mid-level math class (2009-main campus) (Dif. Eq). All for the sake of trying stuff out. I already have my undergraduate degree from a different college. I also signed up for a graduate level science class here and had it cancelled (the first day of classes, with no forewarning).
The business classes (two semesters of statistics) were high school level. I studied an hour before each test and aced all of them. Seriously. No exaggeration, and I’m not no stinking genius. The classes were well structured, but the material was sooooo watered down.
The engineering classes… I do not remember one thing from either of those poorly taught classes; no real world application here. The homework questions from the book were on the test, and the only thing taught was how to do the homework problems. I will have to take these classes again elsewhere if I want to actually pursue a career in engineering. Negative stars!
Math. I learned a lot and the class was well structured. It went a little slow, but I was learning new things and didn’t feel like I wasted my money.
The school itself is surrounded by the ghettoest of all ghettos. There was a shooting involving one of Temple’s building when they rented it out to the local high schools for an event (graduation?). That’s just a sneak peek. I never felt unsafe myself, but I knew not to venture off campus.
If I had to sum up Temple in one word, it would be “underwhelming.”
Great learning institution located in a culturally diverse part of the city. I went to both the downtown and the Ambler locations, which provided a different landscape to learn in. I really enjoyed and value my education at Temple!
a) Students may have left reviews in favor of their alma-mater, other variables like food trucks in the area might influence people’s perceptions of the campus (for better or for worse).
b) Reviews give background information about surrounding community, job opportunities and educational environments; all things one might consider while searching for a place to study.

“Temple is an excellent university. It is well respected throughout the Delaware Valley, Tri-State Area, and particularly in major Northeastern cities. Temple provided me with a top-notch education and a strong academic foundation allowing me to pursue some highly ranked graduate programs. I can’t emphasize enough how great my experience as a Temple undergraduate was. Temple is very noble in its mission and boasts a diverse array of students from different ethnicities, nations, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I can genuinely say that Temple U is a wonderful university that provided me with an excellent undergraduate education and an overall great college experience. Lastly, Temple University is a sleeping giant as it is one of the largest national research universities in the United States.” – A Kar
I went to Temple on Alumni Weekend with my friend Leah. The campus is located in the middle of Philly, in a somewhat sketch neighborhood. The campus itself is beautiful. Lovely gothic building, lots of grassy areas, statues and places to shop and eat. It’s hard to believe that right outside the campus is a not so pleasant spot to be stuck in. Leah said there has been a lot updated around the campus, new buildings and such. It’s a great place to walk around.
Talk about diversity. During my four years at Temple I encountered so many different walks of life and many interesting people. From old friends reunited, to roving musicians, like minded aspiring journalists, and many cultures, Temple had it all on any given minute.
It didn’t always deliver on it’s classes, but the good teachers really made sure you walked out with a learning experience that went well beyond the classroom. I had so many classes that went beyond the extra mile.
And Temple keeps on growing. They were working on adding onto it when I was leaving. A lot of those buildings and additions are finished now, and their still adding on even more. so it’s only going to get better.
WORST experience I have ever seen. Philadelphia is NOT a safe place. I have been getting alerts from Temple U about break-ins, burglary, and theft. The city is filthy and unsafe. Off-canpus housing cost a fortune just for slum and filth. No help from advisor and the advisors charge hundreds of dollars for matriculation including other fees. They RAISED the tuition this Fall 2016 AFTER they accepted my application (which I had to pay $200 for it online), but they did NOT raise the loans and grants they gave. Yet, they DON’T give enough loans and they tell you to get a private loan. HORRIBLE place….I can go on and on: do NOT be fooled…Temple is not safe, it’s filthy, disrespectful, and too costly….GO ELSEWHERE.

Excellence epitomized! The facilities are pristine and beautiful and this was only surpassed by the quality of care and the superior level of dentistry I experienced throughout the years I have been a patient. Thank you to the wonderful student dentists an staff. Highly recommended!

I loved my time at Temple! They have really great resources! I liked that they have multiple campuses, because it adds to the experience if you’re able to go to each one. I was able to go on a world tour (Mexico – India – Brazil) through the International Programs Office at the Fox School of Business. It really added to my education. The campus is extremely diverse so you really can make friends anywhere. The proximity to the University of Pennsylvania allows you to get an Ivy League education at a fraction of the cost.

“There was once an historical cemetery located on the grounds of Temple University. Temple needed more parking lots to accommodate their growing number of students that were driving to the university starting in the 1930’s and they tried to purchase the cemetery. The owners of the cemetery refused to sell. So Temple went the unethical approach of getting the cemetery condemned so they could take ownership. Of the 28,000 corpses buried there only 900 or so got reburied. All of the tombstones were removed and abandoned on the river banks of the Delaware river. This behavior shows the unethical and substandard behavior of Temple. If you are considering a university you would do well to stay away from this unethical and despicable university. The university will get its just rewards when they meet their maker…rest assured. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG8cAZG2SJI “
Temple has been nothing but a nightmare to me. I chose temple because it has great academics and it does! The classes and the support for classes is phenomenal, but what really makes this school miserable to me is everything else. This is just my experience and if you like partying and city life, this is a good school for you. But what has been terrible for me is the food, the health services and the overall campus itself. I live in Johnson and the nearby dining hall is j and h dining hall and it has the worst food I have ever tasted. The variety is non existent and the food thy do serve is not acceptable. I got sick eating the burger and because everything is so horrendous, I refused to eat their and I almost starved to death. When I went to get myself checked out after I vomited blood, the people at the health services told me to come in the next day when I told them I was vomiting blood and I had to have my mom come all the way from home to philly to take me to the local hospital where I had to have surgery and stay a few nights! If I did what they said and waited for the appointment the next day, I could have been in terrible shape! It scares me that the food services and the health services are practically worthless in this school because instead of trying to have fun, I’m more concerned with surviving the year! I have already decided that after this year I will transfer out because I can’t take the lousy services this school offers. But like previously stated, this is just my experiences and the academics are wonderful which is why I chose temple. But don’t expect decent food or care because u probably won’t find it here. Sorry Temple but you just aren’t for me

Imagine trying to punish employees for going on strike, then you revoked their tuition and forced them to pay within a month.
All of this is illegal, have fun with a major lawsuit.
I think that this comment have a bias against the University’s management. And biased towards the employees.
The review can be a little helpful for people to know what kind of personality the Universty has.
I look for an overall honest review about the place I am searchinf for.
“I went to Temple, and I loved it. One thing to remember that no matter where you go to school, you’ll get out of it what you put into it. In terms of location, Temple’s could be better (can be a rough neighborhood) but I never had any problems. Philadelphia is full of culture and activities, overall, I would recommend the school to anyone.”

4 stars because my daughter loves Temple but I have to rant about one thing: $269 fee is assessed to pay tuition online!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING???? Let me get this straight— since I am doing YOU a favor and paying online so you can HIRE LESS STAFF, I still have to be financially inconvenienced?????. Parents: if you live nearby just drop the payment off or call them to get details on mailing it in. They are understaffed so you may wait 15 -20 minutes on hold but its worth it.
The staff in the Bursars office once you get them on the phone is kind, respectful and professional 🙂
Temple has an abundance of activities, clubs, and real world experience to offer its students. The school has a bad reputation for its location however, the surrounding area is truly much safer than most make it out to be. Just be smart and you’ll be fine. I would never regret attending Temple. It has been the most fun and most important time of my life.
