Swim lanes are used to help give clarity in regards to storing data and information in one place. They organize the flow of data into a diagram which demonstrates the order in process for what is being acted upon or demonstrated at the moment. This helps to clarify processes that seem complex while also improving understanding for those interested in learning the order followed by the processes. Swim lanes use symbols such as a rectangle, diamond, circle, oval and square to signify the changes of events in the diagram. Therefore a swim lane always starts and ends with a circle because the circle demonstrates the start or ending of an activity. These different symbols used helps to demonstrate processes easier while also creating a way for readers to recognize what is going to happen or is happening during the process. Hi Cassidy,
A swimlane diagram is an amazing tool to demonstrate the process of something step by step in an organized manner. As a matter of fact, after learning about swimlanes, I happened to come across one in my workplace. Granted, I had been looking at this diagram for weeks, but after our discussion in class, I looked at it and thought to myself, “Hey that’s a swimlane!” Personally, I feel as if those diagrams are extremely useful when training someone or mapping out a business process. As far as Salesforce, I like how you described the actual benefit of the software company. I took the response in terms of the benefits of learning Salesforce as a student, but there are so many other benefits that you pointed out! Overall, I found your post to be really insightful!
