System analysis is “the process of studying a procedure to identify its goal and purposes and create systems and procedures that will efficiently achieve them.” The use of system analysis is all over the workforce, even if it’s something we do not always notice within our own jobs as well! The use of system analysis is to help ensure that any process a company is using will go smoothly with little to no errors. Starbucks recently had a study around their system analysis within the past couple of years in regards to their queue when making drinks. A case study was performed due to the long wait time due to one cashier also making drinks as well. The company tried to re-do its analysis to have a better and more efficient system in place with reduced times. Below is the system problem Starbucks used to help with creating a more time-efficient process:
This whole case study that I found online is a really interesting read, especially for MIS. The case concluded that Starbucks does in fact have an inefficient current system and by using the First In First Out method to help reduce wait and queu times can help the company improve their customer satisfaction. This article really helped me understand the analysis process and how to put it in a real life situation.
