Which coding language adds design elements to a web page?

Ryan Scharko - February 27, 2023 2 Comments

The coding language used to add design elements to a web page is Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and can be used for adding styling on a web page. CSS also lets you to control the layout, colors, fonts, and other visual aspects of a web page. You can also create a consistent visual experience across your website and make your pages more engaging and attractive to users. You can apply styles to specific elements, classes, or IDs using CSS selectors. CSS also provides a wide range of layout and positioning options such as grids, flexboxes, and floats. They allow you to control where you place the elements on the page. Overall, CSS is a powerful tool for adding design elements to a web page and creating a visually aestheictically pleasing website and a user experience.

Hi Ryan, thanks for your response! I have never really looked at CSS before, so I did not know that CSS was the main way to control the visuals of a website. Do tools like Wix or WordPress utilize CSS? I’ve only ever designed a website using software from a third party, so I’m not sure how those apps use CSS, but I would imagine they do on the back end to power the design changes the user makes on the front end.

Hi Ryan, it’s interesting to learn more about CSS, and it reminds me of the work we did with our assignments and helping Riley when using Salesforce to create users, the webpage, insights, and more. I am majoring in marketing with a huge interest in the digital marketing world and I definitely think that CSS would be a great skill and chunk of knowledge to know when going forward! I love creating websites, etc. even though I’ve never made a real one, but when businesses make websites they need to be appealing to their audience and not too much. Cascading Style Sheets is a great factor in that and having an appealing-looking site is also important when you want to make sales. Appearance isn’t everything in a business, but if a potential customer can see your site from a click of a button and doesn’t like what they see, that’s a huge impact on sales just as much as the products you put out.
