Welcome to MIS2402

January 10, 2023

Hello and welcome to MIS2402, section 004. I look forward to our first class together.

Many students ask me how they can best prepare for the course. I have some advice! Everyone should do following before we first meet as a class.

1) Download and install the course related software before the start of class. See the Setup Instructions posted under the LINKS section of this page.

2) The semester will begin with an assignment that will require you to watch a substantial amount of material on LinkedIn Learning. There’s no reason that you can’t get a head start on that. In fact, I highly recommend you start it now. See the Reference-HTML-Essentials.pdf here or under the LINKS section of this page. You do not need to sign up for a LinkedIn account to watch the videos.

3) There is another document called Links_To_Codepen.pdf which has links to practice the items.  It goes with the LinkedIn Learning video. I strongly encourage everyone to do the practice writing HTML with this resource.  Passively watching the video does not promote learning, following along does!

On the first day of class, I will take attendance, review the course (as it is documented on this site), and introduce some related material.

There is a textbook for the class: JavaScript Absolute Beginner’s Guide by Kirupa Chinnathambi (2nd edition)

I look forward to seeing you in class on Tuesday 1/17.
