I believe that it will take a few more years to have companies perfect the use of drones, however the future of JIT delivery is right on the cusp. Consumers all care about speed, whether it is free shipping or having their product at their door in a day, efficiency within the supply chain is the key to a successful company in terms of delivery. Being able to get a product in less than an hour, landing on our property, and not necessarily having to be at the house (with the risk of FedEx keeping the package because you could not sign for the package) is a innovative measure that will revolutionize supply chains in the near future. Personally, I would absolutely pay to be able to receive a product in less than an hour after ordering, especially if it is something I need right away, and I can not imagine I am an outcast to 95% of other consumers either who would love this service.
Using drones for home delivery service is certainly an idea of the future that is really taking off in the logistics world. More and more consumers are creating demand to have their packages delivered quicker and just in time, which the use of drones can help to achieve. If there was something that I vitally needed, like the girl with her soccer cleats in the video, I would certainly pay extra for the service. The fact that you can designate a landing area for the drone without even having to be at the house to sign any documents is next level and I think will really catch on as the idea gets more and more popular. I think that there is still a lot of work to be done in order to perfect this concept, but I also believe that it can be done in the next few years.
I think this method of delivery has the potential to be very successful and profitable. If Amazon is able to overcome the security and regulation concerns related to the use of drones, it would be a huge competitive advantage for them. Personally, I wouldn’t pay extra for this service unless the extra cost is very minimal.
I think Amazon is on track to the future of high-speed delivery with their drone delivery. I would absolutely use this service, even paying extra if I need something within 30 minutes. However I can think of a number of concerns that stand in the way of this kind of delivery. Will thieves develop drones that seek out Amazon delivery drones and hijack the cargo? What if a customer’s dog attacks the drone when it lands, will the customer be responsible for paying to fix the drone? If Amazon address concerns like these and presumably many others that will arise with this new technology, I can see this method of delivery becoming widely popular, even becoming the norm for fast deliveries.
The use of drones is growing rapidly and becoming more and more popular. It is faster to carry a small box directly to someones home with a drone than having it in a delivery truck with 500 other packages that need to be delivered. I have also heard of Amazon wanting to build a blimp that would carry many packages and drones would deliver these packages from the blimp to the area surrounding that blimp.
I would definitely pay extra for this service if it meant that I could order a product and have it extremely fast.
The use of drones are getting more common these days but in my opinion, it is still in the testing period and more research and testing should be done before we can fully take advantage of this technology. Amazon Drones Delivery sounds tempting and feasible, however, it does raise a lot of possible issues such as security, safety and scalability. If in the future, Amazon could provide a solution over these concerns, I would definitely paying for this service given that I would have the a big enough landing area at my house for the dones
Drones are the most effective way to deliver packages. This technique will definitely disrupt the delivery industry. Companies like UPS and fedEx will be highly affected by the advent of drones used as delivery method. However, the regulation and fly zone can be obstacle for the use of drones. Amazon has a history of taking the lead to implement technology that disrupt the way people usually do business. I can’t wait to see how this technology will transform an entire industry.
I think that the use of drones to deliver goods will become more and more popular. I find this emerging supply chain method to be very intriguing. Seeing that Amazon is already adopting this young shipping method, gives me hope for the future. Once Amazon starts to become successful using this method, the other shipping giants (FedEx, UPS, etc) will jump on board and will become one of the most popular ways of getting goods where they need to be at a fraction of the price and much quicker as well.
Personally, I am not a huge fan of the rollout for Amazon Air. For basic customer use, I think it is an “innovation” that is for the impatient. I think it will be way too expensive to maintain and there will be a huge liabilities if drones fall out of the air/ dogs each the package/ people shooting at them for fun/ ect. There is really no limit to how many things could go wrong with this service. However, I do think there is an incredible use for Amazon to use drones in other areas besides B2C. Amazon can capitalize on these drones to send help to hurricane/earthquake/tsunami areas or help to deliver absolute medical supplies to hospitals or doctors in need. It may be useful in the future when the liabilities are worked out, but until then I think it is just a super-luxury service to people who think they need those items immediately.
In my opinion, amazon air is a truly innovative idea and it shows that the future is a lot closer then we think it is. The idea of being able to get anything I want at the click of a button, without even needing to leave my home, is simply mind-blowing. With that being said, I do not know if I fully agree with the innovation to how it will hurt jobs. Sure jobs will be provided in the sense of drone operators and warehouse workers, but I can see UPS and FedEx being all but destroyed, and that is a lot of jobs. Another issue I can see proving to be a problem is teenagers/trouble makers tampering with drones and/or stealing them. Other then that, it is a pretty good idea.
I think that this could be a delivery method of the future but I am not sure we are there just yet. I think that drone delivery is very innovative but won’t be able to completely take over the way we order and receive are products. Some signs that point to this not being as effective as we may think is right in the video it says that the drones can fly within a 15 mile radius. There are many people in the world that don’t live even close to 15 miles within a place these packages and would be delivered from. Also these drones wouldn’t be able to carry packages that are too heavy as they are small in themselves so that is another negative. Personally I wouldn’t want to look up at the sky and see a bunch of drones flying around delivering packages. I think that is a scary thought. I am not a fan of drones and hope that if this does become a thing I hope that it can be regulated and controlled.
I believe that the use of drones for delivery is a novel concept, however there are many logistical issues that still need to be overcome before this can become a reality. One of the largest issues I see is the sheer number of drones that would be needed, and how they would fill the skies during the day. Would people feel comfortable with hundreds or even thousands of drones buzzing around above their heads? How would different companies avoid in-air collisions and theft? These factors, among many others, need to be considered before implementing a service such as this one.
This method is interesting, and will really convenient customers’s life, especially for some urgent needs. With this delivery system, I don’t need to drive or walk away to anywhere but still can get needed product in a shortly waiting, which definitely helps customers to save time. As a customer of Amazon, I would like to support this delivery system apply to people’s life, and I think this method will brings lots potential customers and profit for Amazon.
