I hope everyone is learning a lot in your internship. Here is question #2.
What are some of the important things that you had to find out on your own–having to do with the company culture and/or things you wouldn’t normally think you have to ask for…finding the bathroom, finding where to get coffee in the morning, etc?
One of the biggest things I had to learn on my own was how self-driven learning is in a fast-moving tech environment. I spent a lot of time independently exploring the company platforms to understand how the systems connected in real healthcare workflows.
I also learned how important proactive communication is in a remote professional setting like giving concise updates, scheduling check-ins, and asking focused questions helped me stay aligned with my manager and team.
Another unexpected learning was understanding the bigger operational side of healthcare voice AI, beyond just the technology itself like how scheduling, patient engagement, and clinical workflows all connect together in enterprise healthcare systems.
One of the things I had to figure out was how to take a screenshot on my new work laptop. It sounds a little silly, but I am used to a Spanish keyboard, which is slightly different from an English one. Other than that, I was shown where the cafeteria and restrooms are.
Another thing that Saneesh already mentioned, which I think is important, is that I had to actively listen during meetings. Sometimes I would zone out or not fully understand what people were talking about, so I had to stay focused and pay attention.
