About HealthWatch
HealthWatch is a project designed by senior MIS students for the MIS 4596 capstone course. The project combines wearable technology with healthcare industry standards to create a mobile application that allows a user to receive virtual health services from the comfort of their own home, while enabling better quality of care from doctors at regularly scheduled check-up appointments.
By tracking heart rate, blood pressure, and steps, HealthWatch will give the user an up-to-the-moment performance overview of their health. Based on the data tracked through the Samsung GearFit, the doctor may offer goals, tips and comments to improve performance. The data also notifies HealthWatch to send an alert when a user shows symptoms that make he or she at risk for illness.
HealthWatch will be sold to healthcare providers who will then offer this tracking and communication application to consumers. Insurance companies will now be able to better monitor their customers, allowing them to offer more personalized premium rates.
