Hello All,
Welcome to MIS 5213. I believe I have met a few of you at some Temple event, I thought it would be beneficial for all to know who I am and my teaching style. I have been in IT / InfoSec for the past 20 years now. My experience stems from Financial Sectors, Government and Consulting.
I generally prefer to interact with all of you on a less formal basis. During classes, or outside classes, students are welcome to email or reach out to me if they have any questions. If I say something in class that you disagree with, feel free to challenge me. I look forward to those conversations. If something is not working for you, tell me.
I feel that everyone has what it takes to be an Information Security professional but the one skill that is most important is the willingness of the student to go home and play “mess” around with computers, software, hardware, etc. It is this inquisitive mind that will make someone successful in this profession. I can teach a specific tool but the reality is that tool will become obsolete within 6 months.
My syllabus is fluid, 3 months is a long time, and things, technology, etc. can change and we have to be willing to adjust as needed. I look forward to getting to know everyone.
Good Luck
