Experience
The very first job I had was watching my grandmother’s grocery shop on the weekends. Under my grandmother’s guidance, I learned the fundamentals of business at a tender age, such as handling money and counting change.
Some of my choices during my teen years were questionable, but with hard work, I was able to overcome them, graduate high school, and join the military, with the goal of eventually attending college. I completed my basic training at Fort Jackson in North Carolina and was later sent to Fort Lee in Virginia for my advanced individual training. I was assigned to work for the United States disciplinary barracks, one of the top maximum-security prisons in the US. I was a supply specialist.
Some of my happiest memories and some of my worst memories came from my time in the army. I met a lot of people who became like a family to me. I still keep in touch with most of them. Listening to inmates’ stories made me appreciate life and think about everything that I do, as well. One thing that I am sure of is that the experience shaped me to become the man I am now. The army straightened me out from my troubled teenage years. I am currently studying MIS because of it’s combination between business and technology. Being introduce to business early and also a tech guy, MIS was a good fit for me.
