Marshall’s of Willow Grove

I was hired by the TJX corporate company back in April of 2011 where I started off as a cashier and floor associate. After working there for a year and being under new management, a position for Customer Experience Coordinator opened up and I applied. I was granted the position and congratulated for being the youngest member on our management team.  My Job entails a range of things but the main focus is our customers. I am in charge of making sure that our cashiers are providing our customers with the most exceptional service. This includes making sure our customers are able to find what they were looking for, that we’re offering great ways to save more money, making sure our customers understand that we are here to service them and always looking for ways to improve, and that this isn’t the last of their visits. Since I have worked for the company, I have been nominated for Employee of the Month, qualified as one of their Scholarship Recipients, and have made personal store goals weekly.

ACANA

I was granted the opportunity to intern, this summer, with the Non-Profit organization ACANA. An organization that was formed and founded by one of our very own alumnus, Voffee Jabath. ACANA is an organization geared to assisting and doing a lot of work in the African/Caribbean community of Philadelphia. ACANA and it’s staff provide the community with an array of resources such as education, job fairs, social events, health forums, medical assistance and most importantly immigration support. During my time at ACANA, I was able to explore the realms of immigration law, a sector that I am quite interested in. I was able to work alongside the organization’s attorney, Chioma Azi,  and learn more about Immigration Law, ICE, DHS and more. Nothing can replace my experience at ACANA. I was able to bear witness to the grave lack of education about certain issues in our communities. Interning at ACANA has opened my eyes to the importance of keeping our communities informed and empowered to then heed a knowledgable society.
