Corporate Functions and Consumer & Community Banking Summer Analyst
During my Summer 2023 internship, I worked as a Corporate Functions and Consumer & Community Banking Summer Analyst at JPMorgan Chase. The Analyst program was a 6 week position located in Columbus, Ohio for the first 3 weeks and Newark, Delaware for the last 3 weeks. During my 6 week experience, I was given the opportunity to network with industry professionals to learn more about data analytics, professional development, and DEI in a financial institution.
My project focused on how small community banks find new markets to enter and how they should introduce themselves in the community. Citizens Trust Bank (CTB) is a Minority Depository Institution (MDI) that works with the community bank at JPMorgan Chase. Through analyzing census data on the primary demographic of the area, learning about the initiatives CTB has done in the past, and researching what opportunities there are in the target market to expanding the bank to fit the needs of the community, my team and I proposed a method of introducing this bank in Houston, Texas market.
While analyzing data to draw conclusions, I was able to use skills that I learned in my Data and Analytics class. We used SQL and Excel to parse through the primary database of information on Houston to gain current data on the main age, race, and income demographic in every town in the Houston Metropolitan area.
