Cybersecurity Foundations
This activity involved completing the LinkedIn Learning course on Cybersecurity Foundations. The course, led by security expert Malcolm Shore, provided an overview of cybersecurity basics, including risk assessment, cybersecurity frameworks, and control standards such as NIST and COBIT.
It covered important topics such as the types of cyberattacks, how to conduct proper cybersecurity risk management, secure architecture development, and global cybersecurity principles. This was a valuable course because it showed me more ways to properly apply the NIST Framework, something that I initially found confusing in MIS 4596. The introduction to COBIT was also valuable as it showed me the framework that the finance industry uses to approach cybersecurity. This was the most helpful course so far, due to how comprehensive it was and how well Shore was able to communicate complex topics.
