My name is Patrick Blewitt. I am from North Wales, PA, a suburb located about 40 minutes outside of Philadelphia. I am the oldest of 3 siblings. Before Temple, I was a graduate of La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, PA.
I am a first semester senior pursuing a double major in Management Information Systems and Marketing, expecting to graduate in May 2020. This past summer I gained valuable experience working in the Marketing department of QVC, Inc. as a paid search intern. This role taught me about the importance of data in digital marketing. I executed scripts to optimize spending, used data from Tableau to create daily reports, and managed Ad campaigns in Google Ads. Some of my interests related to MIS are data analytics, project management, and learning more about computing platforms. I recently joined Temple’s chapter of AIS, and I am taking advantage of all of the opportunities that AIS has to offer.
Some of my favorite MIS classes taken to date are Data Analytics and Digital Solutions Studio classes. In Data Analytics I learned how to use practical tools such as advanced Excel functions, SQL and R. I was able to put my knowledge in these areas of data analytics to use when I competed in Temple University’s Analytics Challenge. This experience was a great opportunity to work with a team to find useful information from data, visualize it, and then explain our findings. In Digital Solutions Studio I was a part of a team that worked with a client, The Policy Surveillance Program, to create a prototype of a potential new design for the website. This role taught me a lot about the skills needed to be a Business Analyst, and how to communicate with key stakeholders in a project.
