Financial Service Organizations Assurance
- Job function (e.g., overall role, assigned tasks): My main job function was to provide reasonable assurance that the financial statements of our clients are presented fairly in all material respects. To assure this, my team and I tested several controls, which included client information systems, to understand client methodologies and provide evidence that the controls are being correctly implemented.
- Examples of projects (e.g., list the projects you worked on and what you accomplished): Audited two Fortune 500 companies. My main task was to provide testing of controls, and provide financial statement analysis to ensure that client documentation presented fairly and without any material misstatements. To do this, my team and I would consult with clients about underlying support and present follow-up analysis of the client’s systems.
- What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this experience in the context of specific courses): I learned a lot about financial reporting (My first major is Accounting) and information systems as I primarily worked with testing controls and evaluating whether the client’s systems were being correctly implemented. I would relate this experience to Financial Accounting, Data Analytics, Enterprise IT Architecture, and Lead Global Digital Projects.
