Experience
I was hired as the head coach of the amateur League of Legends eSports team known as F3 Visuals Vital Point, a partnership between two small businesses that seeked to make a brand in the League of Legends world. In this position, I was tasked with the complete responsibility for the oversight of growth, development, and maintenance of five challenger (equivalent translation: semi-professional tier) players, in terms of physicality, mentality, and in-game skill. In the time of having this position over the course of four months, which is the entirety of an amateur “season” in this specific eSport, I led the team from being unknown to being #4 in the nation in the amateur scene, and our time culminated in an in-person multi-thousand dollar event in Arlington, Texas, where we met and played against, and were defeated by the #3 amateur team.
My time with F3VP, and consequentially my time with the players, taught me real-world experience regarding team development, human resource management, and project development. A long-term vision was necessary in order to maximize time efficiency in terms of improvement and subsequent positive results, while a steady but finessed hand was necessary for each individual player’s guidance. Because of my experience with this job, I am now significantly more capable of handling a group of people in a team environment as well as guiding their growth. I was also exposed to corporate politics and communication, having needed to provide constant reports and keep steady communication with corporate higher-ups regarding the status of my team.
